Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
God knows how they would report a problem with the lift fan
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Very nice article in yesterday's Daily Mail explaining why the weather caused the delay and reporting on the excitment in the folks that live near Marham about the pending arrival.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Duh, they’re stealth aircraft. They have been in the UK and sat on the deck the whole time while the carrier has been in Pompy.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
anybody have info or heard what the fault being rectified delaying the sailing the other day was/is ?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
That "fault" had no source reference and wasn't posted on any official MoD website. The "fault" may not even exist.
I've just checked the new QHM updates, theres no planned QE movements listed for today or tomorrow.
That spring tide is only a week away now....

Personally relieved to still see her there. Visited Portsmouth Tuesday and yesterday to see her for the first time. She is pointing out towards sea still, and no sign of Phalanx. Her engines were running, presumably due to her being port side on? A couple of T45 were in the inner Basin, we were told one was Daring, and she has a lot of covers over her VLS. The other was missing her Sampson and looked to be in deep maintenance? I wonder if an F35 Flypast is being planned for QE departure?

Great to see them here at last.QEC Eye in the SKY wrote:
Just a question about the landing. I see the fan doors are open and the thrust nozzle rotated so it's obviously performing that landing technique to be used on QE where they can return with more fuel and stores.
I would have thought that with a runway as long as Marham a conventional landing would have been executed.
Question is ....can the B Land conventionally or does it always have to use the lift fans??
Cheers.

The F-35B can and does land conventionally.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
They may have used SRVL to reduce the landing roll out to avoid having to back track from the end of the runway to where the welcoming committee was waiting. It may also have allowed them to sequence the landings closer together to shorten the time between the first and last aircraft parking.Roberto wrote:Great to see them here at last.QEC Eye in the SKY wrote:

The one with the covers on her VLS is indeed Daring, she’s currently laid up as a training ship.. this is what happens when there’s a lack of manpowerDigger22 wrote: A couple of T45 were in the inner Basin, we were told one was Daring, and she has a lot of covers over her VLS.

Flood alert sounded yesterday and all civilian contractors were ordered off the ship. It was a burst pipe which is now fixed.
