They will be the ones that we can't crew then?

Oh, and do let's hope that they won't have an LPD as part of the CSG, otherwise only the lowest speeds would be possible!

Same official top speed as the QE carriers?

A fleet tanker that can keep up with the fleet  We should keep the "Rover" names for all others - as that is what they do.
Ever-lasting truths: Multi-year budgets/ planning by necessity have to address the painful questions; more often than not the Either-Or prevails over Both-And.

Are fleet tankers supposed to be considerably faster than the fleet? Is it reasonable (economic) for a tanker to be capable of 35+ knots? I assumed maintaining the same speed as the task group would be sufficient since for extended periods it would be part of the group....

I thought the original post had the QE going places at 30 knots.

Unless I'm misremembering she can officially do 25-26 knots according to public domain info, but has been able to surpass that in trials by a few knots....

On 15 August 2017, QE did 29.2 kts ("Pompey Revs!") off the Isle Of Wight before her first entry into Portsmouth.

But as Britain's Biggest Warship revealed, QE did her speed runs in the Moray Firth, which wasn't made public on Marine Traffic....

I have seen video clips and photos of normal everyday cars inside hangars in larger RN vessels, its certainly possible, and there's plenty of room in the QE hangar.

But it may be a mistake to take a red Range Rover into sunnier climates, that nice shiny red will turn pinker than Lady Penelope's Rolls Royce!
If I were CO, I'd request a nice Navy Blue or black one instead.

There are reports that the youngest member of QE's company who cut the cake at the QE commissioning ceremony in December 2017, has been arrested by the Royal Military Police for dealing Ecstasy tablets and supplying them to other sailors. Its also reported he failed a mandatory drugs test last month and could face a court martial and discharge from the Royal Navy.

Sorry, do not read that paper so sourced the following from here.

'He allegedly put his actions down to realising the Navy is not what he thought it would be. A growing concern amongst younger sailors who spend months away from home without access to their phones, wi-fi or social media.'

Not sure too many conclusions can be drawn from this individual. This sort of thing does happen, it's perhaps a bit early to suggest boredom is an issue and drug use is high.

It’s a nothing story, happens all the time in society these days.

Surprised that people here feel the need to bring up tabloid trash like this.

No, because Happyslapper originally created this thread in 2009 (on militaryphotos.net) and here again in 2015 (a UKDF continuation) for both ships of the Queen Elizabeth Class.
