1. Thanks to all for taking time to post these great pictures.

2. If those diesel room lads and lass are typical of RN crews, I don't think the UK has much to worry about. Fine looking bunch.

22:30 - Still off the Dorset coast, although went as far west as Cornwall earlier in the day. QE did 27.0 kts at 17:15 today.
QE's current speed record is 29.2 kts (15th August 2017 at 12:30 GMT/13:30 BST - the day before arrival at Portsmouth)

Carrying a full load of stores , aircraft and crew ,you would expect it to be slower , could be that 25 knots is cruising speed fully loaded

I seem to remember it was stripped off, then repainted on again. Could be mistaken but seem to remember seeing her in Pompey without the Dragon on her bows on a harbour tour once.

About the dragons, quoted from the T45 thread, dates edited in:
(Wales Online, 18th May 2016)
The transfers were originally fitted in the build phase and had become synonymous with the ship but after entering dry dock for a refit last summer (2015), which included repainting the grey hull, the dragons had to be removed.

HMS Dragon is the only ship in the Royal Navy to have such adornments on its bows and, in 2014, there was some doubt as to whether the dragons could be replaced following the refit.

The original red dragons had been privately funded and so an appeal was made by the ship to its supporters in Cardiff and the British Warships Association (BWA) , which is headquartered in Wales, immediately responded.

Within weeks of the appeal launch, BWA members and the people of Cardiff had pledged the funds and the financial commitment was secured.

Earlier this month (July 2016) the dragons were unveiled in Portsmouth to those who had helped the fundraising and aboard the ship. Each donor was presented with a certificate of contribution by HMS Dragon’s Commanding Officer, Captain Craig Wood RN.

In his speech, the CO Captain Wood, said: “We are so very grateful to all those who contributed to the appeal. Our dragons mean so much to us.

“We will take good care of them and wear them with great pride.”

During the ceremony (11 July 2016), glasses were raised to the new dragons and fittingly the toast was made with Penderyn’s Dragon Myth Welsh Whisky .

If you watch the video you can see the spray from the bow also looks red due to the dragon paint. Almost like a shark having a mouthwash after disposing of a surfer. A bit gruesome but not entitrely inappropriate for a warship.

That sail past is definitely sped up. Giveaway is the speed of the crew rushing down the ship's waist. They look like something from a Benny Hill sketch!

When they start bragging about new supercarriers that will sit at heart of UK & NATO etc. there's only one thing to expect- savage cuts in new mini-SDSR...
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

I hope not, however, we know nothing of the new Def Sec, so anything is possible I guess.

Well, it won't be good for the Armed Forces in general and RN in particular- you can take it to the bank.

The above picture is really good, but would look even better with a few F35 on deck even if its only 12.
