Those night shots under the bridge look bloody fantastic, really gives some scale to show how huge she is.

RN is one massive step closer to being back in the big league!

Wonder if HMS Sutherland or another will be escorting her for the duration of her trials. I wouldn't think so, maybe just a safety precaution for a few days

Perhaps if they think the pesky Russians are lurking.

She's doing a gentle 8.4 knots as we speak, HMS Sutherland still off her port side.

Looks like they have a good school of fish and they are trolling over them. Stocking up the freezers for dinner?

Looks like she has finished that particular phase. Now looks like she's heading back towards the mainland, Anstruther port. Maybe a boat transfer to pick up the morning papers!

Saw the video and yes it does seem to spin very fast, assume it's the same speed on the T23?
Unlike the T45 which has black painted sections to reduce radar reflections the QE has grey painted panels applied, looks much nicer.

I like the fact that QE didn't skimp on all the nice accessories such as the tug SD Tempest, the Swordfish and Buccaneer passenger boats, guns and CIWS still to be fitted.

But my very important questions are:
Do we finally know what colour the wardroom carpet is, yet to see a pic
Didn't the old carriers have a custom Captain's chair made by Aston Martin, have they done the same for QE?
Did anyone notice the cute looking deck vacuum cleaners, wonder who made them, shame they aren't robotic...
If she comes back to drydock maybe they could give her a dazzle paint job that would be cool, can anyone do a CGI??

More importantly when will the RN finally upgrade from using Windows XP, surely this is long overdue?

Bloody fantastic to see her going out, to think it doesn't feel that long that she was just primed bits sat alongside a dock. It'll be even better when we eventually see her packed with aircraft.

Some cracking pics in the above link, including a nice nightime shot under the Forth Rail Bridge. Usual DM comments are quite funny to read, including someone asking why it has to be named after the current Queen!

Didn't E comment on the WinXP thing a while back?

However, it's great to see HMS QE out and about, cannot wait for her to come down to my hometown of Pompey. :D

Yes he did. It has also had official RN comment. There is no XP onboard.

The confusion came from a couple of pictures of contractors laptops using the old XP screensaver.

The Guardian today:
"Royal Navy £3.5bn carrier appears to be running Windows XP, the operating system targeted in NHS ransomware attack"

Not long ago we had a discussion on this, where even the use of Windows for Submarines was supposedly [ie. claimed to be] out of use by now?

So, what's the displacement of the new carrier? 65 000? 70 000? 72 000 (metric) t?
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

I hope not, she hasn't left UK territorial waters yet. I would have thought she's more as a safety number incase anything goes pear shaped, with an added bonus of force protection. Sutherland is probably making the most of it and practising her goalkeeping skills on the future flagship.
Looking forward to Thursday/Friday when the first Merlin lands on :D

One for the defence reporting hall of shame perhaps? It amazes me that newspapers can still get away with printing such misinformation in its headlines

Fastest I have seen yet. Guess they are trying different propulsion combos. What speed does she need to achieve for Lighting II launch?
