Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I've seen claims this is the most fifth gens at sea on a single flight deck ever. Is this true?

Certainly that’s what the official RN press release is stating. The Armchair Soldier wrote:I've seen claims this is the most fifth gens at sea on a single flight deck ever. Is this true?
I can find reports of Tripoli and America loading 13 and 12 Dave Bs and they are cramped, but cannot find numbers for Dave C’s on the nuclear carriers.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
It's true so far. A US LHD has had 13 F-35B onboard before, but F-35C is only in the trials phase onboard CVN's at the moment. The Truman I believe is doing some at the moment, but there won't be more than a couple. US CVN's will only get a second squadron onboard to hit 20 after 2030. From 2025 to 2030 they'll have a maximum of 10 onboard.Wrekin1410 wrote:Certainly that’s what the official RN press release is stating.

Wowzer! Still looks sparse though, hoping to see some more photos with the Merlins as well, and accompanied by the carrier group, and if it's not too much to ask...HMS PoW and/or HMS Albion...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Your right you could get the 15 just down the side where the lifts are looking at that photo without going too much onto the stern , must admit thought it would look fuller ,good stuff tho , buzzing to have our American pals onboard hope they have a great time and have good things to say about the ship and crew when they get back home

F35-B fighter jets have arrived on HMS Queen Elizabeth to take part in her exercise the way to North East Scotland.
HMS Queen Elizabeth has embarked two squadrons of F-35B stealth jets: the UK’s 617 Sqn and US Marine Corps fighter attack squadron 211.
With a total of fifteen F-35B’s and eight Merlin helicopters, it’s the largest air group to operate from a Royal Navy carrier in more than thirty years, and the largest air group of fifth generation fighters at sea anywhere in the world.
This month’s Group Exercise (GROUPEX) will see HMS Queen Elizabeth joined by warships from the UK, US and the Netherlands, which will accompany HMS Queen Elizabeth on her first global deployment in 2121.
However before then, the newly formed Carrier Strike Group will be put through its paces off the North East coast of Scotland as part of Joint Warrior, NATO’s largest annual exercise.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
When I saw the photos and noticed that there were only 4 UK jets I just assumed that Supreme Leader Boris and Sky Marshal Cummings had decided to deploy the 5th on a QRCLP (quick response COVID lockdown patrol). Maybe that is something being saved for later.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Yes I thought we were deploying 5 f35 and 6 Merlin ,maybe only 4 now for some reason ,it is what it is I guess but all good stuff ,I'm still waiting for the suprise they said a few days back , maybe it's going to be a few USMC mv22 osprey ( that's just my hope lol)
