Follow up to the above:

They will have prepared for this eventuality, so hopefully cases stay at ten and the impact minimised. Speedy recovery to those infected.

I understand that the QE was sailing for a few days training, then would come back into port to pick up supplies before embarking planes. Meanwhile the US pilots will be doing flying exercises at Marham to familiarise themselves with the airfield and Air Traffic procedures and doing some simulator work for deck landings on QE.

Bad news. Today's QE 16:00 sailing is postponed again. New sailing time is 16:35 on Wednesday 9th September.

There are no pubs at Marham. There are no decent pubs anywhere near Marham. It's a hole.

So it has not changed since I was there in the 1970's. Its a long way in the middle of nowhere.

Sounds like the RAF would welcome it being made an FAA base then :D

Marham always was a marmite posting; loads of people had to be dragged out of there kicking and screaming, even more couldn't wait to leave!

I'd say it's pretty much assured, Nipper said that PWLS was due to switch once she'd departed and sure enough, on the QHM for tomorrow, PWLS is moving 0930 to Victory Jetty Bows N in preparation for their trip away this month.

Why does PWLS need to change berths?

It started as a Naval Air Station, so no problem AND Yeovilton is farther from the Sea!

Slightly bemused as to why Marham should be disliked too much. Sure it's a fairly rural location with pleasant enough but unremarkable agricultural scenery, but then aren't most RAF bases? But several pubs & eateries within 5 miles or so. Swaffham (small town, but with most local facilities) maybe 8 miles and the much larger towns/cities of either Kings Lynn (10m) or Norwich (35m) not too much further away. North Norfolk coast maybe 25-35 miles north. And A11 is a good road now is you want to head to London.

QE has sailed according to Forces TV

https://www.forces.net/news/hms-queen-e ... irus-cases

She is due to return to Portsmouth next week to take on stores before setting off to join a multinational task force where UK and US F-35B stealth jets will be embarked for the final phase of drills before the carrier’s maiden operational mission next year.

I actually didn't mind it, but even for a RAF it is properly in the middle of nowhere. Marham village is pretty much non existent. Kings Lynn is a dump. Lots took advantage of the cheap house prices.
Many didn't enjoy as they were often settled elsewhere and went there against their will, you'll never have a good impression of the place under those circumstances.
Did you enjoy your tour there?

10x USMC F-35B
5x UK F-35B
6x Merlin

= 21 aircraft
