Is POW getting a later version of Phalanx than QE? Her Phalanx radomes are grey whereas QE's are White?

No, the RN has been steadily upgrading their Phalanx to 1B standard. Any that you see on ships are 1B's now (distinguishable by the E/O set up on the side of the mount). STRN has a good write up on the RN's Phalanx, you can see (in the photo labelled Dalek Army) a refurbed Phalanx 1B ready to be taken onto a ship with a grey painted radome. Phalanxes behind it, in the process of upgrading to 1B's standard have the white radome. But....the majority of 1B's already out there have white radomes so it looks like its a recent change.

An excellent article, in addition to the guns it mentions the USMC IT and Comms gear, plus some insight into what the USMC think of our ship. Interesting that they want more gym equipment, that may encourage our lads to keep fit maybe.

Regarding the colour of the Phalanx, it could be as simple as to match the overall hull so they do not stand out so much.

Looks like AB Derry now owes the Warfare Mess a crate of beer, apparently if you appear on social media, or in any official video/pictures, then that's the rule! I think this is specific to the Warfare dept who seem a bit stranger compared to the rest of the crew. It explains why my nipper (proper naming convention here) does his very best to duck out of most of it. This Sailor has been with him all through Phase1/2 and first deployment.

According to Navylookout 'approx' 6 USMC F35B's from US Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 211 will support the ship’s inaugural deployment in 2021. I note someone forgot to mention that desert boots really are not necessary on our local beaches in Pompey

Interesting to see 'around' 10 are on their way, I see RAF Marham have already put out a notice saying please do not come and try to see them arrive. There is no viewing area and the local Farmers might be less than 'receptive' if people park on their surrounding crop fields! Pitchforks at the ready no doubt.

Completely agree, not sure if it's been leaked and wasn't supposed to be announced until they had arrived as cannot see anything official from RAF Marham saying they are on their way soon.

Also Marham should have a viewing area like Lakenheath people will want to come and it can be controlled plus would keep locals on side

These flight deck BBQ's have really taken a toll. Or could it be the sign of an operational flight deck. Soon we will cover the whole deck with aircraft for #JW202 and #Groupex.

^Might be an old photo, as PoW's Phalanx are "missing".
Note that PoW's No.6 landing spot has been resurfaced.
