Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Maybe RN will do a live Facebook video stream from onboard QE again?

When will she set sail again once she arrives in port? Her first deployment isn’t scheduled until 2021, I believe, so more trials must be planned. I think I read somewhere that she will complete trials with F35s in UK waters. Is this correct and when will it be?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I remember reading something about F35 carrier trials in UK waters for sometime in 2020.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I seem to remember reading that HMS Prince of Wales will also be doing F35 trials next year as she already has the Bedford array. SRVL should be included in these trials.

Some bod on Twitter said that it was a Marham one that had 'issues' which meant they were not happy about it flying home without being near a landing spot if required, I guess the F35B would fry a container ship should she ever need to emergency land on one.SDL wrote:i wasn't expecting to see a F-35 on board....

I'm guessing they must have flown it off, not on deck on the harbour entry and I can't imagine they'd want one onboard for a few months in Portsmouth harbour.PhillyJ wrote:Some bod on Twitter said that it was a Marham one that had 'issues' which meant they were not happy about it flying home without being near a landing spot if required, I guess the F35B would fry a container ship should she ever need to emergency land on one.

Couple of quick pics I grabbed from the Gosport side at lunchtime, think my camera's broke as it appears to be duplicating the image

I wonder if any crew returning to ship after a night on the town could board the wrong one?

Why call the POW Charles? Wasn't named after the chinless wonder., was it?
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I wonder if that F35 flew off before or was kept below? Hangar doors were shut.

Bringing back an F35B aboard HMS QE will certainly have saved unnecessary fuel consumption (and wear & tear). Just one of the benefits of an Aircraft Carrier. Hint!

For me this is the best pic so far:
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Nope, as there have been other RN ships named Prince Of Wales, but it seems certain tabloids have decided to call it 'Big Charly' Just like all those that think QNLZ is named after the current Queen I guess.Ron5 wrote:Why call the POW Charles? Wasn't named after the chinless wonder., was it?

British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has returned to Portsmouth after several months working overseas. The warship has been off the east coast of the United States undergoing flight trials with British F-35B aircraft during Westlant 19. Her arrival into Portsmouth meant for the first time, both British aircraft carriers were side-by-side.
