I suspect the Navy safety regulations for installing CAMM on a Type 45 would be ever so slightly more comprehensive than carrying them on an army truck or firing them individually from a frozen tundra.
To me the advantage of ExLs for the Type 45 is that the VLS comes equipped with the CAMM firing control black boxes (as shown in the LM brochure) and so is a self contained, tested and qualified, unit. Not plug and play by any means but does remove a lot of work that would have to be done to the Type 45.
The bad news may be that the ExLs is not be large enough for the CAMM-ER. But maybe nobody cares but me
