Itd have to be looked at but the T45 is only 0.5m odd wider in beam than the T26. Also would the T45 replacement still use a Sampson’s type radar ?

Any way we’re getting quiet abit off news now and probably move this to the current and future thread.

The SNP and the unions weren't very supportive of the Frigate Factory at Scotstoun as it meant the closure of their beloved Govan Yard. So it wasn't entirely down to the treasury.

Shame they don't have to reimburse the MOD the cost difference in production between the 2 methods!

And funnily enough it's the SNP who scream the loudest about how the factory wasn't built.

And they'd have been the most vocal about it meaning the closure of the other yard as well!
Damned English, they closed our yard!
Damned English they wouldn't invest in our yard!

No. But, it's very important to have alternative English yards - especially as Northern Ireland could go as well.

This is where if Boris was smart he’d say to the SNP yes you can have another vote but not until 5 years after brexit has happened and explain to the people of Scotland this is so everyone can see what it’ll really be like and not just the he says she says of an unknown. While also explaining how distubitive this would be while also undertaking brexit.

This would keep the SNP in there place as any further demands would look petty and unreasonable to the public while giving the union time to build up a package for both out comes.
It’d also give the people a chance to see the truth in either way as said above, as right now the sway to independence is due to the unknown of brexit thinking it’d be a disaster.

We also have to remember that over recent years we’ve seen poles are very out of touch, every pole both brexit said we’d stay, every pole before trump said Hillary would win, every pole said Cons would get a massive majority. All wrong in every way.
Poles can also be purposely skewed in the discretion wanted by the question asked, the answered offered as options, the area it’s conducted in and the numbers asked.

Talk is cheap when asked the question in a 'no consequences' reply to an opinion pollster.

..It's another thing entirely when your job, mortgage & pensions are at stake in a real vote.

They seem to be building Iver Huitfeldt Class frigates (in an AA spec). Which is rather odd as they were not one of the three designs taken forward for the Sea 5000 project back in 2016.

Still food for thought about assembling a potential Type 31 efficiently and promptly!

If he was smart he'd realise hes on the cusp of breaking the country he leads in two (or three) and cancel Brexit immediately, before committing to the old order of the Type 26s with a corresponding increase in budget, and then immediately begin work to make the Union more prospective to Scotland again.

He needs to be completely aware of the threat posed to the UK right now. There is a movement that again is pushing to split it in two, and yet he is ignoring it completely and is just continuing with his other obsessions that are causing it, at the cost of everyone in the UK.

If he just cancelled brexit he’d completely destroy the majority of people’s trust in democracy, not only would the 17.4m people who voted for it now see there voice meaning nothing but the people that didn’t but accept that is how democracy works will all look at it and think well ok so this is how it is our vote only matters when it says what you want and is ignored if it says any different.

The SNP will use anything to try to break up the union it is there only goal, but Boris can give him self and the union the best hand he can by saying yes to another vote but only after 5 years of brexit to allow the reality to be seen and not the he says she says.

Scotland should be see as an equal member of the union but that means not threatening independence every time it doesn’t get its own way, it needs to realise that ship yards were closed in England to protect those in Scotland ( was that fair ? ) it needs to accept that it already gets more per head on spending than both England and Wales ( is that fair ? ) and it needs to understand at 60% of 6 million odd Scots can’t override 58% odd of 55 million English when were meant to be seen as one nation ( as they keep saying they didn’t vote to leave )

With regards to the T26 I agree it should be put back to at least its original plan of 13 with an increased budget but I also believe naval ship build as a whole needs to be better distributed around the UK.

Ok, if somehow, HMG, say tomorrow decides that they will order 13 T26 right now, all of them, what do you think realistic delivery schedule would be?
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

I know that they will not do that, but sincerely doubt that any big harm was done by posting that here? Mods can transfer it into another thread if they want.
Also, considering the glacial speed of T26 construction, do you think that it makes sense to have a thread that will be updated once ot twice a year?

This needs to be said....

WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT A "NEWS ONLY" THREAD?
THIS T26 NEWS THREAD IS NOT THE PLACE FOR GENERAL DISCUSSION, GOSSIP, RUMOURS OR FOR SHIP REDESIGN FANTASISTS.

STOP IT. NOW.

If you see news about Royal Navy T26, then fine, post it here. For Aussie and Canadian T26's post it in the relevant country threads.
If you want to discuss escorts, then do it in the Future Escorts thread. Not here. Please.

Why should the mods have to bother transferring inappropriate posts, because you can't be bothered to post them correctly in the first place. If there is no news so be it, I come on here to see factual news not speculation and fantasy.

Yes its rather tiresome reading through some of the "fantasy" posts. There is a place for them but not filling up all the discussion groups. Likewise I come on here to gather information and news events discussing them when appropriate.

Not City class, but RAN Hunter class.

Interestingly, their crew size is 180 (including flight). I understood City-class will have a crew of ~150 (including flight). (Earlier number of ~120 is something we shall forget, a pipe-dream). As Hunter-class is more heavily equipped than RN City-class, "more crew" is not surprising, but is it 30 more? Or, City-class might needs 160-170 crew (including flight)? Not sure.

Not convinced of the factual accuracy of this piece but the insinuation that New Zealand is lining up for an order of 3 Type 26's is very interesting.....if true.

If only the T26's really could be 'dumbed down' to a £250m general purpose frigate. Little truth in that statement I suspect.
