Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

Poiyutrewq wrote: The argument that the T23 class were conceived during the Cold War and the world is a much less dangerous place now does not really stand up to scrutiny anymore It never did. It was merely a triumph of optimism over reality, that had politicians jumping. On the bandwagon and making...

Yes they do and they also have mountainous areas to defend. French & Italian forces would also have a much longer distance to travel to Scandinavia. Perhaps you think that we should re-enforce Southern NATO Countries, while they re-enforce the Northern NATO countries. At the very least it would ...

When the USN starts to remove them from their CVNs, that will be the time that the game (for Phalanx) will be up, but not a moment before then. Perhaps you are suggesting a return to Goalkeeper!

Remember we have only two expensive and irreplaceable QEC Aircraft Carriers. There is a fair chance that the “Second Carrier” would not be available either. To ...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion

Q1. What does Putin deduce from the Ukraine War? Q2. What did he hope to gain? A1. Army not up to scratch, let’s try the Naval and Air arms instead? A2. What Putin has clearly sought to do from 2014 onwards, is to ease and increase Russia’s access to Warm-water ports. To view the Ukraine War as an A...

Shame that they did not take on more apprentices at an early enough time then. If they had, then they would not now be facing a need to recruit (such a large number, anyway) !

But looking on the bright side, I suppose they could always poach (from Ferguson).
