Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)

But it also shows that there is a levl of conservatism that wants to see Ajax delivered at all costs. As far as I am concerned the fact that no delivery schedule can be made public, and that might not even exist is a reason for the plug to be pulled now to allow alternative solution to be properly i...

Re: M777 Portee DVD 2016

That might work in some circumstances, but the number of GRADs along with artillery form 122mm to 130mm to 152mm available to even los tier opposition is likely to out numebr to number of guns available to oner of our lighter formation. The 130mm out ranged the 105 by a considerable margin in additi...

Are they going to be responsible for the final assembly of each vehicle including assigning the relevant Mission Modules, which could also be their responsibility?

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

It is all well and good suggesting various configurations that might be found in the future T-32, but until we have a clear understanding of the capabilities the T-32 is required to have, most suggestions are baseless. We have been told at other times that the T-32 is to be basically a mothership fo...

One of the big advantages of the CAMM weapon system is that it is Radar agnostic, in other words it can be made to work with almost any radar.

Re: M777 Portee DVD 2016

My mistake, off the top of my head I didn't think the M777 was as heavy as it is. Make one wonder how heavy guns like the FH-70 and M198 weighed? Anyhow my mistake shouldn't cause people to loose their cool, and I appreciated the clarification made by some. I still personally think the 105mm Light G...

Re: M777 Portee DVD 2016

Interesting video but should all this talk of Ukrainian use of the M777 be in the War in Ukraine thread? Regarding the M777, I still think we need a number of these to give our lighter forces greater fire support than the existing 105mm Light Guns. The latter are falling behind in the capability sta...

Here is a YouTube video listing the majority of Polands planned aquisition over the next decade. Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion

As far as I am concerned, LRG(S) should be put on the back burner and we should retain the Batch 2 Rivers as the only forward deployed naval vessels except for the ships currently in the Gulf. Mind you with our facilities in Bahrain, we could probably bring the Bay class back for a refit, even if i...

Re: The war in Ukraine

I am reading reports that a joint US and Ukrainian programme has modified a number of its Migs and Sukois to be able to fire the US made HARM weapon system. Inaddition to engaging ground targets, the Ukrainians also appear to be using the HARM seeker head to locate Russian possitions by their ELINT ...

Maybe we should obtain a number of these to replace or compliment the Army's Watchkeeper UAVs, also taking some of the burden of the RAQF's new UAVs and allowing a number to be allocated for maritime patrol duties.

Re: Royal Artillery/Royal Horse Artillery future developments

One thing mentioned that I found interesting was the desire of the Army to increase its numbers of M270s to enable a second regiment to be fully equipped. Ay present we have 44 M270 that are to be modernised, but it may be that additiopnal second hand vehicles could be added to the contract or that ...

Re: Ground Based Air Defence

Well there are really two options on the table, Patriot and SAMP-t. I would prefer the latter as it cuttrntly has a better more flexible radar and of course uses basicaly the same missiles as the Royal Navy's Aster. IF we later mover to the Mk41 VLS for the T-83, the missiles will still be useable. ...

Ukraine would do better trying to isolate Kherson than actually capturing it. THe faster it could achieve this the better and the less time Russia would have to shift forces from the east.

For Australia to have an aerial denial capability as well as penetrator/attack capability it either needs a larger air force with squadrons forward depoyed like in the past or a platform with a much longer range than the F-18E/F/G and F-35A.Australia has such a large rea to cover the two platfrms me...

IF Greece were threatened by Turkey it would not find it difficult to find allies who want to preclude any actual conflict. I believe Turkey has turned its attention to become a major player in the Middle east, though access to natural gas deposits could mess things up.

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

I have always been concerned about our willingness to sell our top tier aircraft to the Gulf States. Iran is the lesson in point and Saudi could change to a Theocracy very easily. IF Saudi goes other states will be in danger of following. Remember the majority of ISIS's funding came from Saudi natio...

Well Turkey will doo be self sufficient in air defence systems thanks to their investment. Other nations need to take note and improve their capabilities, most probably off the Shelf with US and European systems.
