Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
Commitments need to be reduced and a rebalance of the fleet or it will get worse. Nooo. We can't run away from the problem. That is ignoring the personnel crisis which is more unsustainable than any other plan anyone else has had. You are actively saying we should continue with whatever numbers we ...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
…Bulwark's crew could be moved to the 3 Bays, which should free up enough RFA crew to bring Fort Victoria and both Waves back into active service. It may only be a temporary solution until the 3*FSS come into service at the end of this decade. Are the Albions coming back? If the answer is no then t...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
They're a rare example of what a high performance navy should look like. The RFA model as currently configured is completely unsustainable. The threat of strikes is just too limiting. Are the 6x MRSS, 3x LSV and second MROSS going to be RFA alongside 3x FSS and 4x Tides? Totally unrealistic IMO. Th...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
3 combat brigades for war fighting exercise with all the attached units is heading closer to 30K so it’s not that. Perhaps not but maybe a Battlegroup each in Estonia and Finland with a Brigade deployed jointly to southern Norway and Sweden? Still looks highly ambitious. 24 typhoons maybe. Not sure...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
If it is divisional level even better been far to long since that was exercised too. I’m not entirely sure troops isn’t being used for a catch all when they really mean personnel from all 3 services Its hopefully three Brigades each deployed individually to Norway/Sweden, Finland and Estonia with R...

Nice bit of accounting there, over the course of 6 months we will deploy 16k of people, just not all at once :shh: Still seems ambitious with all the other commitments. Any deficiencies in strength in depth and lack of reserves will show up very quickly. But this should be our main commitment. You ...

Re: Littoral Response Groups North & South
Do you think anyone outside this very narrow defence bubble knows the difference between the Royal Navy and the royal fleet auxiliary? Probably not, but that’s a problem because the Politicians do not know the difference either and the options such a distinction can give - does not make it wrong. T...

I think people are living in an alternate universe. Do you think anyone outside this very narrow defence bubble knows the difference between the Royal Navy and the royal fleet auxiliary? Even the media here have been reporting the deployment of two Royal Navy ships they can’t tell the difference, no...

Well the QE CSG is at sea now I am sure if she is needed she can be surged with a SSN more F-35's plus Chinooks and Apache's But yes LRG-S is the high readiness LRG but I am sure that if needed Albion could be made ready in short time in fact if it was me in charge I would have recalled her crew an...

Re: Australian Defence Force
Would be ironic but I wonder if they would go back to the French for this lighter frigate and buy the FDI frigate. Really can’t see it. If it’s not a long range OPV design it really should be A140. All those Mk41 cells will just be too tempting. I really done see what an opv does for Australia part...
