Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
Whilst I think a mixed fleet has its benefits, I can't see how a tracked turret with hull penetration would be reasonably compatible with a truck/boxer module mounted solution. Perhaps a wheeled/wheeled solution with Boxer sharing a turret with a truck system is a better compromise in terms.of cost...

The Stormer's high quality tracking makes it a good choice to spot for other vehicles shooting at drones whilst holding onto its missiles for more difficult targets.Phil Sayers wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 19:15 It's an SA-8 Osa that shoots it down apparently, just viewed from the Stormer. Good to see Ukraine combining the platforms IMO.

Interesting to consider whether this is now part of a pattern, moving away from large calibre naval guns such as 4.5" ,5" and towards medium calibre . US Navy selects BAE Systems' 57mm Mk 110 for Constellation-class frigates https://www.adsadvance.co.uk/us-navy-selects-bae-systems-57mm-mk...

I'm no expert but I thought just the XM913 had programmable air burst ammo and that gun's only been around for a couple of years. You are correct as far as the XM913. But it and the EAPS gun both started as developments of the Bushmaster III in 50mm supershot, it would be equally inaccurate to desc...

I cannot see a reference to a twin 50mm system in the article but the idea is interesting. Mind you what the US Army refers to as cheap often has a different definition than for he rest of us. It also helps them that they are looking at using the same weapon on their replacement for the Bradley. Re...

Its quite hard to asses the health of a horse from third-hand information. I've seen a lot about NVH issues, but not much about whats behind them other than "it bad." This is in heavy contrast to Nimrod's endgame, during which the aircraft's difficulties were pretty well-known. As such, co...

Acoustic tiles. Wonder if they're the exact same type that Submarines get or if they're a slightly different design. Submarines tiles are designed to absorb sonar energy from enemy sonar and deaden sound from within. The role these would appear to fill is primarily to reduce sound from the propulsi...

If he was interested in "doing something," he needed to do it properly. Don't leave 453 squadron in the dark, don't leave all the cruisers in Singapore, don't neglect the allied ships that were soon to arrive, don't charge about chasing contact reports rather than have proper scouting find...

He slashed the defense budget because he was (and remains, it seems) a fervent believer in austerity and applied it with abandon.
