Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Personally I find it very strange that the most secretive western government by a country mile is the UK. So little is disclosed despite FOI tinsel. Amen to that. It was literally just the other day that I finally got an answer to an FOI request on the Type 31 that I’d made on MAY 5th 2017!! All of...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Spread Sheet Phil has just announced £1billion extra for defence with special mention towards cyber security and ASW.. Exactly what this translates to isn’t known, no doubt we’ll find out when the MDP is finally published. Although a billion pounds extra is somewhat of a win for Williamson, it is of...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
Essentially i think we’re all agreed on the fact that this government is as weak as an old woman’s hip and it would be worse under Corbyn. We also accept that there is no new money, the main issue now is actually getting the MOD and Parliament into seeing that we can only do as much as the money all...

They’ve just kept light infantry in the shape of the marines! What climate? If you mean some sub activity there’s 5 type 23s without tails! Not just the strategic climate but the political one too. Getting rid of ships may help the manning issues but the regular joe on the street is only going to s...

Not sure if been posted but here’s the BBC report on it featuring a clearly excited BAE Test Pilot Pete Wilson and Jerry Kyd having to talk to Jonathan Beale about defence costs, a part of his job that I’m sure he’s grown to love and enjoy.. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-45687169/hms-queen-elizab...

The deck’s getting that nice used aircraft carrier look about it now. I can’t tell whether the black marks are specifically soot from the F-35 or just general use seeing as there’s similar marks in other areas of the flight deck

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Just seen a tweet from the County Sherriffs Office staying that the pilot is well but being checked over for any unseen injuries so that’s the main thing. Although the flight looks to be unrelated to the trials work, would it not be surprising if the all B variants are grounded pending investigation...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Definitely looks like a timed thing with the Tory conference. Did we really expect them not to hijack the occasion and play it as a political achievement so they can push the “party of defence” line? Michael Fallon would have loved this, it would have been an occasion for him to rollout his favouri...
