Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
HMWHS has a hangar access via an armoured blast proof room under the towers. This allows disarming weapons if damaged in flight or if too expensive to jettison before land on.

Re: Raytheon Sentinel R1 (RAF)
The computer was terrible, the aximuth alignment motors were very unstable when airborne leading to doppler issues( this was fixable but needed a stronger bulkhead at the after radome, a shift of centre of gravity aft, and the need for a 30% bring back of fuel to act as a heat sink due to inadequate...

Ron I think you will find pride in our country in the context of many of the members of this forum extends to service at the sharp end (more than I expect you have done). Defending the corporate largesse of the multinational behemoth is best left up to ingratiating proctoscopists such as yourself. S...

Yes they have also bred out the longer leg on one side to allow for housing in flat landscapes. This has led to problems when anti-vivisectionists etc have released captive Haggi into the wild and inevitable cross breeding with wild types. Sadly we in the veterinary profession do not yet have the an...

It is more target resolution and PID at range. I believe there was/is a refined solution being looked at for the US which might make it's way onto Stryker. Will try to find link when i get a sec.

Word in MoD is that Spartan is emerging as a front runner but BAe is crying foul and refusing to assemble. BMT has revamped Venator 110 and offered a split buy on the 90 and 110 for T31 and MCHC being procured over a 12 year timeframe. BMT and the Spartan team are prepared to work collectively on th...

We had them in 95 and 98. They were in the armoury and several more miraculously appeared along with the 203 kits for the C5. We went up to Ft George to the long range for a fun day scaring seagulls. We had one 79 per section with the grenadier carrying a MP5 in 95 and the L85A1 short barrel in 98.

DS would know better but I was under the impression that the 5th airframe was stripped for use as an MPA testbed and was going to cost a fortune to revert to sqn service.

I had mine in the sandbox and even as an A1 it did better than the C5's we also had. As for power, it's longer barrel means that it has the highest muzzle velocity of any NATO standard AR.

60-65 kts aircraft forward speed at 8 degree glide angle with 25-35 kts wind over the deck. I think a new higher speed vector has been approved for low wind conditions but it is in simulator testing. The video posted called for a 350ft deck remaining so I guess there is a little play for further for...

The 416 comes with all the crap associated with the M4. Compare the number of stoppages and replaced bolt carriers between the L85A2 and the M4 and it would surprise you. The 416 is good but not the wonder weapon it claimed. I really liked the G36 but unfortunately it never really sold. Also having ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I could easily see a flight of MV-22's with VARS kits being deployed alongside USMC F-35B's in multilateral operations. Other than that I wonder if something similar to VARS could be developed for Merlin, because that's the only way I see the RN getting a tanker capability for the QEC in the forese...
