Re: The future form of the Army

If you really need a third Division them one way might be to keep the 3rd as I laid out 3rd Division ( Based around Boxer , Ajax , CH3 , M270 , K9A3 ) 1 x Armoured brigade with 1 x Cavalry regt , 2 x Armoured regts , 2 x Infantry battalions , 1 x Artillery , 1 x Logistics 2 x Mechanised brigades wit...

Re: The future form of the Army

To follow on how do I see the Air response units laid out maybe something like this 1 x HQ & QM Platoon = LRV 400 & HMT 600 2 x Recce sections = LRV 400 2 x forward fire Platoons = HMT 400 1 x Fire support Platoon = HMT 600 As these Units will need to stay light so weapons would be 12.7mm HM...

The rest of Tweet (neither convinced that a follow on OPV needs to be in effect armed like a corvette) https://twitter.com/nicholadrummond/status/1689374439253725184?s=20 As a base line I believe first and for most the RB2's should be given a 3d radar like SAAB x1 and a better UAV and if money allo...

Re: The future form of the Army

moved over form the Jackal thread the Army right now can't move to 3 fighting Divisions due to the lack of Logistics and Artillery units right now the best it can manage is 6 brigades plus 2 reserve brigades with something like so 3rd Division ( Based around Boxer , Ajax , CH3 , M270 , K9A3 ) 1 x Ar...

Re: Jackal and Coyote MWMIK (Army)

I think if 16AA and 9 of your ARU's had LRV 400 & 600 they would be in a great place The LRV 400/600 is a great capability but it has limitations just like everything else. How would the LRV perform against a peer force? How much appliqué armour can the suspension take? How would it perform in ...

Re: Jackal and Coyote MWMIK (Army)

I think we should only really think about making HMT 400/600 air deployable by C-17 & A400 what we should be looking at as far as 16AA goes is LRV 400 & 600 plus bring back ATMP which can all fit inside a Chinook HMT400 fits in a Chinook - https://supacat.com/products/hmt/hmt400/ https://su...

Re: Jackal and Coyote MWMIK (Army)

What the Ukrainians think right now is thank god kit keeps coming what they will think once the war is over is what works for us and that is what we should be thinking right now what works for us and what do we have in production Absolutely but there must be lessons that can be learnt. The HMT is a...

Group 1 North Atlantic = 2 x T-31's and 5 x OPV's Group 2 South Atlantic = 2 x T- 31's , 1 x OPV & Protector Group 3 Indian Ocean = 3 x T-31's & 2 x OPV's Group 4 Pacific Ocean = 1 x T-31 & 2 x OPV,s Is this active or both active/refit? It’s a bit ambitious for active but if it’s active...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

In a war time effort there would likely have been some “unserviceable” AND they would be needed for Maritime Patrol AND they would have to provide themselves with return trip (to Ascension) fuel ………. Remember, according to your scenario, you have lost the use of the runway at Mt. Pleasant. “Wartime...

Well as said on other threads if the Army sorts its self out and opted for 1 x Armored brigade = 12th 2 x Boxer based Mechanised brigades = 7th & 20th 2 x Rapid Response brigades = 4th & 16AA with each having 1 x Cavalry , 3 x Infantry , 1 x Artillery this will leave us with 2 x cavalry and ...

Re: River Class (OPV) (RN)

Exactly! 4 x Fleet Ready Escorts are better than 1. At least four FRE should be the minimum that the RN should have available. They would not be FRE's as to say they would be duty escorts with each region having two T-31's working 3 months on 3 off they would be able to join different tas...

Re: Jackal and Coyote MWMIK (Army)

A airmobile/lt mech brigade based around this would be useful I think to us. Or at the very least a comparatively cheap capability that the Army could field fast that would address a lot of the gaps we have, maybe not close to completely, whilst it attempts to sort out the mess that it has got itse...

Re: River Class (OPV) (RN)

Putting aside the OPV plus one or two Ice Patrol ships, of the RN means business the best way to achieve sea control of the region is to deploy a SSN. Fine to sail the CSG there occasionally, but a SSN will stop any thoughts of an invasion - which is why an increase to the SSN force should be prior...

They would not have the manpower to operate more than 10 Escorts and 10 LST's plus it would take at least 4 years to train for an invasion and then there are only a handful of landing sites witch could be well mined both at sea and on the landing grounds They could be mined but will they and by wha...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

I don't understand. Very simple. Every nation needs to maintain a drumbeat of orders through their shipyards or skills, knowledge and capacity is lost between classes unless they rely on imports. The UK is a great example of how not to do it in this regard. The PLAN has roughly 160 Destroyers, Frig...
