We need to add air to air missiles to our own planes ,just like the NIMROD mk2 during the Falklands.
It seems the Russians have said a P8 was controlling drones which attcak thier air base in Syria.
Cute a shooting down of a P8 by the Syrians (Russians) on the cards

Re: Boeing E-3D Sentry AEW.1 (AWACS) (RAF)
To be able to deliver in the same timeframe, SAAB basically need to get started on integrating their systems on an A330 now. If reports are true, and and order is placed for 6 aircraft. The Aussies i.e RAAF are willing to give 2 up two aircraft whilst new aircraft are beening built. How's that for e...

I thought a contact to Babcocks to update 36 systems to block1B baseline 1 a few years back, with the T26 we would need at least 16 more to cover. So over all we should be having just over 25 sets plus spares to cover the the ships that need it Plus all of these will be updated to latest baseline2 w...

Are not the Wildcats used by the RM pooled from the army AH1 helicopters, as FAA Wildcats are HMA2 version s with seaspey radar already fitted. Likely pooled, 847 NAS has ~6 AH1s. If they want radar and weapons, easiest way is conversion to HMA2, it gives you both, you then just need to introduce B...

The choice of the ESM system probably has the greatest potential for local content and/or improvement. (It's also the greatest difference between all the Wedgtail variants). If I understand correctly, the present ESM system on the Australian Wedgetail is related to the ALR-2001 on the last upgrade ...

I like the idea of army wildcat may be given a radar and air to surface weapons, plus datalinks. He is talking about FAA Wildcats, not Army. 847 NAS operate the AH1 variant, so ideally he wants them to convert to HMA2. Are not the Wildcats used by the RM pooled from lthe army AH1 helicopters, as FA...

Just a thought as the astute are busy working up and most likely unavailable to escort QE to the states plus with the increasing subs visitors to faslane.
I wouldn't be surprise if a US sub is assign to escort QE on it first trip to the States.

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
About cost of service extension, IIRC it's about 500 000-1,5 mil. USD per missile... Now, with 13 frigates and 6 destroyers ( each with 8 missiles ) that's about 200 missiles ( with few spare missiles ). So, about 100-300 mil. USD as cost... [ At present it would be more like 48 (8 frigates and 4 d...

Re: Future ASW
converting commando merlin for CrowsNest.
I think this was mooted by Leonardo as part of CrowsNest/Mk2 upgrade discussion, it could be carried out as the Mk4,s are refitted with Mk2 cockpit electronics,.and foldind tail,so fittedwithbutnot bits could be done ,if the money was there.
