Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)
Once again I'm not quite sure where I should post this article, but as the main headline is F35 related I ended up here. An interesting range of air assets mentioned particularly for the RN. I'm a bit concerned in regard to the remark about the number of F35's he mentions,as I always understood that...

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)
I'm not quite sure what I read into this article. Is it a novel idea (which it clearly is) or is it the end user finally saying we need an aircraft capable of carrying more munitions, (which they clearly do) In either case it will mean greater expense, and something that I don't imagine the UK will ...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
The only let down is the slow production rate and numbers. To be fair, we only have the one statement made by George Osborne in regards to the production rate, and we are all holding our breath on the numbers to be acquired. So we just have to wait untill the end of November when (hopefully) we wil...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
I think you will find the correct form is 'Hitler-Jugend'. As ''Jurgen" is the German equivalent of the English "George". I can't find any references to "Hitler-George's" anywhere.

Not forgetting that Trudeau is not only a liberal, but a French Canadian liberal. So I can only guess where his prefered suppliers would be, in the unlikely case he forks out on defence. I doubt very much it would be the makers of Eurofighter. ;) Further to my above, true to form here we go :- Dass...

Nah, with a name like Trudeau they will go with FREMM. ;) Very ture. Probably go for some mirage jets too! The French have been pushing the Rafale for a long while now, I give them ten out of ten for their efforts. Unlike the Eurofighter consortium who seem to think that buyers should approach them...

@Ron5.
Sadly your post is far too logical, and not at all argumentative enough to pass muster on this topic. I'm afraid the armchair experts will air their views to prove that after years of considered opinion, the MOD have once again got it wrong.

If there was a wish list for this ship and money no issue , what would be the absolute best equpment for this ship ,this is a chance for the critics The one thing I have always wondered about in regards to 'critics', is with what authority do they speak.. In this particular case if they are in the ...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
As for how good it will be in its roles, that's another suspended judgement. None is in the water yet and, crucially, we have no idea what, if anything, will be put into the MK41 cells. What is its ASW weapon, apart from helicopters? What its anti-ship capability? What its land attack capability? T...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
It seems to me , but I could be wrong that the type 26 design seems more of a general purpose frigate than a dedicated ASW frigate ? , I really don't know why you and other people keep stating that. You obviously should know that at the moment for the UK there will be two versions. One with sonar 2...

Having said that, they will still be far in advance of the T23 which themselves are one of the best ASW frigates at sea today.WhiteWhale wrote:Especially considering that the are slower, shorter ranged and using hand-me-down equipment from their predecessors.

In all seriousness, neither do I. I think the protection would come from advanced detection of hostiles. We already have far better and more efficient assets for that, I think this is another project that may well fade into obscurity. I think you might find that they will be used most in defence of...

Wasn't it the Lib's that fudged up the original Sea King replacement programme? Would seem to sum-up the party.
