there’s one (photo) with all 3 ships. Taken From behind like this but with a much higher elevation. I can see it in a tweet by Think Defence from two days ago Third time lucky? SKB Thanks. That’s the one I was referring to :) You can see tyre marks just forward of the #4 landing spot line which are...

No, there’s one taken from above and behind and much better picture quality. It’s much easier to zoom in.
Thanks for helping

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Any word on SRVL for the latest deployment? Surely with the amount of Daves they had on board, they must have tried something. I’ve seen no video or reports about it. Been wondering that as well. Looking at the overhead photo of the double RAS (maybe SKB or someone could add the photo without havin...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Thanks for the replies, my naivety, of course they’ll play it safe to start with and as per strict parameters. A question I’ve long thought about and will probably never know due to OPSEC reasons, is can a fully laden (fuel & weapons) F35B take off from the deck of the QE class? If so I would i...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Seems they must have gone through a number of on board integration programs with the air group rather than simply flying them in and off this time.
It also looks like they’ve dispensed with the little green and red flags this time round.

But they did go on to report that 'This issue is also unlikely to prevent the ship from sailing later this year for the Westlant19 deployment when she will carry out further developmental test flying with UK-owned F-35 Jets.' I guess the following shows the power of high pressure water being releas...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Via Navy News FB page Power pulses through the 920ft hull of Britain’s second new aircraft carrier after engineers fired up her main engine for the first time. Just weeks after switching on the smaller diesel generators, experts aboard HMS Prince of Wales finished all the checks and tests needed bef...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Is anyone able to explain why the deck crew are using those little flags to wave off the aircraft? I’ve never noticed this as part of US carrier operations and was wondering if this was something the Royal Navy has always done or it’s new? To my uneducated eyes it just looks unnecessary or worse. At...

That's it then for this year. Looking forward to next years Westlant19 with 617 Squadron Embarked. Interesting they’ve only made a combined total of 404 landings and takeoffs when originally over 500 were expected (from September quotes at the start of westlant18). A sign of just how well the marri...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Ron, just take it from me, SRVL allows bigger bring back loads than VL. Fact. No its not a big revolution in carrier operations. But it does what it says on the tin. And it also means we don't need a buddy-buddy refueller standing by. So quite different from arrested landings Enigmatically, I don’t...

Great video and some terrific flying shots. I also noted that a USMC Major has been having some fun on HMS QE, I must have missed that. From the articles I’ve read there are 4 pilots for these tests. 1 RN, 1 RAF, 1 BAe (civilian ex military) and the US Marine Corps Like the video as well! From the HMS QNLZ twitter page still more shots.
I just find the night shots more evocative and somehow give a better impression of power.

I'm sure we have discussed this before, but what is that little lift for visible in that shot. HMWHS pops up into the islands and hanger, I didn't think it came up to such an exposed position? Apart from it being a great picture what I like is the sense of scale. There are 2 merlins parked up on deck yet they almost disappear. So much I missed them on first viewing.

Not sure the policy on photos from photographers web pages so I’m just posting the link and let the admins upload photos if it’s appropriate but the above has some stunning, mainly aerial, images of QNLZ returning to Portsmouth.
It really is worth a look.
