Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
I've just realised that the Type 26 pennant numbers are a reuse of the old T22 Broadsword class numbers. The eighth T22 was HMS London (F95). By luck or coincidence, the new eighth T26 is also to be HMS London, presumably to reuse the same F95 pennant number too! Batch 1 1. HMS Glasgow (F88). Ordere...

As you well know, a large Superblock of R08 was actually built in Portsmouth, you may even recall which one it was. I do indeed. In fact, BAE Portsmouth built more than just one superblock, they built LB02 (forward hull), LB05 (aft hull) and UB07 (the forward island) for QE. Portsmouth also built t...

HMNB Portsmouth is officially a Naval Base, not a port (civilian/merchant term) or a Royal Dockyard (because RN ships aren't built or get major refits in Portsmouth).

QE is bows north on Victory Jetty and has an interesting looking white tent covering the entire starboard-aft quarter sponson, the one that usually doesn't have a Phalanx CIWS mount on it. Maybe they're just doing maintenance and painting. Or not? Hmm.
