Re: Australian Defence Force

Maybe the RAN should go for say 9 X Caimen-90 4 each for the LHD's and 1 for the LSD then fit davits for two LVPC's on the LSD this may give them better faster connectors

Re: General UK Defence Discussion

As I say two things got me 1) Global reaction force. We don't have the LRG's working properly with the kit needed to support them and now they want a Global reaction force is this just a rebranding of 16 AA 2) Campaigning. WTF are they thinking we don't have the logistics enablers to go F-in campaig...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

PGZ-MIECZNIK consortium have given presentation on the Polish Miecznik Class Frigates based on Babcock Arrowhead 140, it will be a real frigate not like the pseudo RN frigate T31 i.e. its DGs will produce an extra 2 MW of power no doubt necessary to power its S band radar etc which are four panel a...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

Wont that lead to sub classes in an already small fleet of ships? And at what point after adding all these extras would you just be better going for more Type 26? At the end of the day value is what these ships are adding to the Royal Navy, I just fear that adding X, Y and Z as suggested the costs ...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

For me what would be a good out come would be to hulls 1 & 2 with 24 to 30 CAMM and 8 x NSM then start fitting Mk-41 from hull 3 on then at the first 5 year refit fit Mk-41 to hulls 1 & 2 If this isn’t current planning then it probably should be current planning. It’s time to maximise the T...

For me when it comes to EoS between now and 2035 we need to maintain a Bay class in the Gulf and the two RB2's next get Argus out there and then push 3 x Type 31's to the region these asset would be all over the Indo- Pacific but if need come together under the command of the CSG As far as the Indo-...

What I an drill down into is that YOU said that your ships primary role would be Sea Control low level or other wise yet you maintain that Sea Control can not be done by anything else other than a CSG So what I want to know is do you believe there are levels of Sea control or not and there are level...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion

I find this interesting as at the top of the last page you yes you said that a LPH could not do sea control without a CSG and SSN and now you are saying that this ship with less than 1/4 of the capability could do Sea control alone how can this be Then I suggest you learn to read. I have consistent...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion

What could RN get for £0.5bn if bought an off the shelf amphib design? Could we get something smaller than Mistral, possibly closer in length and displacement to Osumi? We built Ocean for 160 million in 1998 this would have been 334 million in 2021. I think we could get a 210 by 40 meter Ocean styl...

Joint venture with the Marinha Portuguesa? Re: General UK Defence Discussion

well the army now needs to look at things like capping Boxer at 800 vehicles and moving to Patria 6x6 to meet its needs the simple maths is they can get 400 Patria's for every 100 Boxers if the Mech brigades are made of Boxer and Patria there still going to be good formations I would be more inclin...
