Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
If the P.O.W was to be used in amphib. operations isnt it likely that the Q.E.C would be used to supply a full complement of F35B for air operations ,

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
So not to confuse my previous post was directed at the ability for lifting of armoured vehicles as per R.A.F ,and vehicles of the size of Ajax , should there also be balance to this type of heavy lift certainly there has been research into "electric armour" being lighter that could enable ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
One might surmise that B.A.E is some imperialist structure that directs the government policy on defense procurement , that it is only interested in its profits, shades of Kruschev . I would suggest though that it has been shaped by successive governments into the entity it is , to be competitive int...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
The T26 having stores for long range deployments may be ideal for operations with carrier groups as to not requiring more constant resupply ,in asw operations it may be some distance from group on occassion but having a more significant load out than type 31 be able to defend itself from attack or d...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Im not an expert either ,the F35b does not have any ability suggested for the interception of the type of long range supersonic missiles that are designed to attack carriers of the Nimitz size , I would also suggest that in the protection of the carrier, in asw operations you would use the best asse...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
There would likely be more market for intellectual knowledge of design and construction than actual physical ship , the T26 would only be afforded by some customers as second hand but will the U.K turn these ships over early bringing in the next replacement of the T26 early and maintaining a continu...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Im not sure if having a T31 asw version as the escort for carriers would bring any advantage over the T26 considering the T26 has a much superior load out to add to the area defense of the carrier , considering numbers of escorts that may also be available seem to be minimal .

I would add there is of course there is a Haze Grey colour paint used by the U.S.N virually identical in shade ,the differences I understand to the R.A.N, is in near infrared reflectance ,metameric requirements, gloss level, total solar reflectance ,colour and gloss stability requirements There is a s...

Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]
I might appear to be going off topic with this post but it may have some relevance , In a report from Stories of Australian Science may 2016 writer Lydia Hales writes on a new paint developed for the R.A.N previously the R.A.N used "Storm Grey" developed for the R.N in Atlantic settings as...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
It probally does not get discussed much but the painting of the ship or the development and choice of paint can be critical in a ships detectability for infrared emmissions , there are naval paints developed to reduce this type of signature , other methods may include a water mist if the ship is alm...

so far there has not been news of a missile able to detect the radiation of radar systems that can be carried internally for the f35 models . Wrong. The US are developing the AARGM ER specifically for internal carriage. Probably won't fit the B's bays, though. It is the one weapon i wish the Uk cou...

Why would you get the Silent Eagle when you already have the Typhoon , doesnt the f35a have options not available to the b model ,is there not a better ability to operate longer distances with the Typhoon as well .
