Account of the downing of an Iranian airliner in 1988. A short clip but describes the details and confusion of the event very well:

Interesting that the announcement came just hours after the US State Department approved some parts for Australia. Perhaps this was the hold up and not the WA ASC involvement? https://www.defensenews.com/global/asia-pacific/2018/06/28/report-australia-selects-bae-for-frigate-design/ "The announ...

Re: Reaction Engines Ltd. Skylon (Reusable Spaceplane)
There's a story about a new hypersonic airliner from Boeing which will go 5 times the speed of sound. It mentions the SABRE engine from Reaction - though not sure if this is what Boeing have in mind as that theoretically goes up to 25 times the speed of sound. https://thewest.com.au/business/aviatio...

Perhaps the ability to be launched off carriers using EMAL should be considered with a longer range than aircraft now being introduced it would not be expected that the f35b would still be flying thirty to to fifty years time but the carriers fielding them will need aircraft it may be too expensive...

Looking pretty good for T26, though I'm still cautious after what went down with the submarine selection.
