Re: RBSL Challenger 3 Main Battle Tank (British Army)
Could someone answer if publicly known why the MOD thinks the challenger 3 in certain areas could be superior to the Abrams or leopard or is that just spin ? ,I don't know anything about tanks tbh but wouldn't have thought chal3 superior but hopefully yes on par with the latest upgraded Abram's/Leo ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
In reality jake1992 not often our 2 countries don't have the same objective but in any case we have 2 carriers so one could go for a USMC mission independent of what the other is doing ,RN only going to be operating one carrier at a time and other on standby , and if they were clever USMC would rota...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Thinking about things I think we should formally ask the USMC to permanently have a squadron onboard ,1) would help us out and they do have US forces permanently stationed here ,like fighter wing ,same in Japan Europe etc 2) we get our 24 f35 and would allow us too have big wing of 36 if needed or 2...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Personally If the USMC asked to borrow HMS pow to fill a shortfall in operations / availability we should gladly do so with all the help they've given us ,not just to get the qe class up and running but tbh since ww2 , always had our backs ,at least they could try the full 36 f35 onboard and see how...

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
Personally I think we got the defence review we deserve ,from politicians who don't really know anything about defence to a public who doesn't care ,to a department who keeps mismanage programmes and overspend and get no results ,to Ruperts who just agree to what they told ,and can't decide what the...

Phil sayers you are probably right they way things are going ,6 destroyers now, reduced to 3 with the words that they are twice or 3 times as capable as the type 45 ,you know this to be true ,mark my words

Re: Type 83 Destroyer (RN) [News Only]
Think the type 83 significance is probably just building a modern version of a cruisers ,like the Chinese type 055 , American Ticonderoga class ,or future Italian ddx destroyer, to sail with the carriers , personally I think will be in the 10- 12k ton range ,so not a derivative of a type 26 or type ...

So 20 frigates and destroyers by 2030 ,I think I heard ,so no change ( maybe 1 more than now officially I think ) so not a growing navy of 24 escorts ,or am I mistaken ?

If we could just get a few other Indo-Pacific countries interested in the carrier Tech or t31-2 frigates to achieve a signing on the dotted line ,that's the hard bit as always, alot of stiff competition out there and good kit also ,but hey fingers crossed as always

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
Well with all this reporting of f35 numbers down to 48 in different articles I think it's just a softening up exercise by the mod to get LM used to the idea we not ordering 138 and only about 70-90 ISH ?or a vague undisclosed open ended number but more than 48 ,So not as bad for them as could have b...
