Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I wonder how much of all this will remain a marketing drawing. A lot of countries are running lots of loyal wingman type programs so I think it's a pretty safe bet we'll be seeing them. Probably sooner rather than later. On a UK aircraft carrier, we'll see I suppose. Nearly forgot you were RAF. I'm...

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)

squadrons of eight sounds terribly... inefficient. Agree, two frontline squadrons of 16 a/c for me, one for each carrier assigned permanently. The rest for OCU, reserve, attrition and trials. Would be good to see what core training services can be shared with the USMC also. How much time do you see...

Re: a future Reconnaissance Corps ?

That is the role of the Light Cavalry Regiments within 1st Division, equipped with Jackal. Whether it would be a good idea to have some mounted infantry battalions using similar vehicles working alongside them, well they would at least be more deployable than the Strike Brigades. https://twitter.co...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)

We don't really "have" 21 for frontline duty, we've got 18. BK-01 (XM135), BK-02 (XM136) and BK-04 (XM138) are still at Eglin AFB in Florida, and they're test aircraft. Maybe they'll get converted like BK-03 (XM137) was and flown over to Marham to join the others. But probably not. They a...

I love the fact that you find war amusing. Probably because:
a)you've never had to put yourself in that position. and
b)you've never lost friends and colleagues who have.

Marham always was a marmite posting; loads of people had to be dragged out of there kicking and screaming, even more couldn't wait to leave! Bet its preferable to Yuma by 100%. Having been to both I'd rather be in Yuma. Great pornshop right outside the main gate there as well. In the summer??? Well...

I'm sure I've seen that picture before, and I'd suggest that weapon is from a while ago as from at least 2012 they were sprayed a sandy colour as TES for close combat troops. Unless of course it was stolen from a unit that didn't go outside the wire.
