Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Considering there was a poor sod on top of the bridge of HMS Plymouth with a laser, trying to blind Argie pilots in 1982. It’s certainly not a new concept! I just don’t know why they didn’t continue development over the last 35 years. Having used it, it was a rather rudimentary device, but let's ju...

Re: Albion Class Amphibious Assault Ships (LPD) (RN)
Specifically for this thread I wasnt keen on the these words from 1SLs Gallipoli Memorial Lecture. 'Of course no one envisages sending landing craft full of marines to storm an enemy beach under a hail of fire' I read that as 1SL code for goodbye LPDs. Utter rubbish Sir Phillip. The treasury bean co...

I'd like to see the ACA model being used again. Keep the Goliath crane and block build in Rosyth. Not sure if UK have the capacity though, with the construction of the T31e coming online at the same time..marktigger wrote:what UK yards are capable?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I know fuel is precious these days but I really hope they manage to get a Type 45, Astute, Tide, Type 23 combo together for a photo op soon. Especially since it will most likely be lingering down in the south for awhile. Tidespring is operating in and out of Portland and QNLZ has been in Lyme bay a...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I had read that she will be receiving her CIWS, 30mm, Mini Guns, Landing Aids etc after Christmas leave in maintenance period in Portsmouth. Then a OST package at FOST, then late Spring/early summer deploy to the US Eastern seaboa...
