Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]
Since when did RN ships fly the White Ensign off the back of the forward super structure, rather than off the stern? Very American. They have always flown the White Ensign from halyards on the fore mast when at sea. Known at the 'sea position' The Ensign staff is only used in harbour or as you leav...

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
I assume Babcocks would use 1 dock and or 3 dock for block assembly as 2 dock is reserved for QEC work. Would they need a mini Goliath? Do we have any idea what the order drumbeat will be for T31e?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
All that scaffolding to the right of the aft Phalanx sponson on the Port Quarter is possibly fitting the housing for the AP/SPN-41 azimuth transmitter. Part of the Instrument Carrier Landing System (ICLS). Being fitted as part of the CIP for the F-35B. As seen here on USS Wasp https://imageupload.co...

I thought that (Starboard Quarter) sponson was for one of the 30mm DS30M Mk2 gun mounts.CR4ZYHOR5E wrote:Good photo....what’s the platform directly in the middle of the shot (back rear right of ship)? Phalanx is back left, front left and front right, is that correct (apologies for non nautical terms)?

Yeah that's how I see it. The 13 million will prob just pay to have the 3 hulls placed in preservation state tied up in 3 basin in Portsmouth until we know if we might need them after to reinforce our fishery patrols post implementation period in the 2020s

According to AIS Marine she was off the coast of Malta at 14:30 GMT Does anyone know if this is true? I looked and AIS positioned it off Malta. I was under the impression that she was in the Atlantic west of Spain. I was surprised that AIS had her off Malta. I would have thought there would have be...

Is she without escorts? Not from what I have seen she hasn't. But why would she? She's only conducting Sea Acceptance Trials, not going on operations. I believe she has 2 845 Sqd Merlins embarked for force protection amongst other roles, along with a couple of the 820 Merlins and 2 Chinocks embarke...

Any bets of her departure date and time this week for her SAT(Rotary Wing) Wednesday 31st 1053 looks a decent high tide. Although the weather looks a bit iffy! On the subject of weapons on QEC, or her embarked squadrons. Worst service meals I've ever eaten were on board RN Vessels. Invincible, Ark Royal and Ocean. Was disgusting. All depended which chefs were on duty. Some meals I had in my time on Invincible were great. Others not so good. Didn't do much for my waistline having a bakery onboard and fresh cream cak...
