Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
Is there an advantage of launching against a target with the ability of defence against missiles different types of missiles at the same time Probably, but would you want to split investment into 2 or more 2nd rate missile systems for the same target set and hope that the mix of systems is successf...

Re: General Election 2015 thread

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
SCALP-N if i remember correctly is a very expensive missile (~€4m each). Modifying it with a new seeker and warhead would increase costs further. The Perseus concept is very interesting, but if it is developed (and i hope it is), I doubt it would be available before 2035, a bit too late for late for...

Re: General Election 2015 thread
After the debates last night there was This Week. I nearly fell off the chair when Michael Portillo, an ex Conservative Minister of Defence, said that in his view that as funds were very tight Trident System should not be renewed and the saved money spent on upgrading our conventional forces. Our c...

Re: Astute Class Attack Submarines
There is not much public domain technical info about the Astute class for obvious reasons. However there are very positive articles about sonar 2076 in public domain and if you (confidently) assume a generational improvement in acoustic control and management compared to the T class then you can be ...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
The most concerning for me was the refusal to order/cancellation of the final Astute.

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
I can forsee a situation where we eventually do get a one for one replacement, but where two or more Dukes are retired early whilst maintaining the steady (artificially slow) drumbeat of Type 26 construction for "cost saving reasons" and thus causing a serious reduction in hull numbers for...
