Re: Typhoon

I reckon the Lightning will be a fantastic aircraft once it's up & running & I can't wait to see them over head my house when they visit Lossiemouth.

But part of me reckons/wishes they were pure FAA & the RAF would concentrate on the Typhoon (& Taranis)

Pipe dream I know.

Re: Typhoon

Id still love to see all of the 3rd Tranche being picked up. Twin seaters with conformal tanks. Nice long range strike to replace the Tornado properly. That said it's still a fighter bomber. Maybe it's time the UK looked at a proper long range regional bomber. A 21st century Vulcan/Victor/Valient re...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Definitely Gabriele. Build the 8 HM1s as pure AWE, makes far more sense than adding more tasks to an already busy Merlin fleet. It would probably cost less than one Lightning.

Re: Future UK Maritime Patrol Options

Hopefully a Nimrod replacement will be funded soon. But at least we have NATO cover when needed. Just as the French needed our Sentinals & C17s we've needed their map. That's how it's meant to work I guess. Incidentally 2 lads I commute with are ex raf Nimrod guys. I get 2 very different opinion...

Re: Introduction Thread

Afternoon.

Long time lurker on TD, MP net & Gabs blog. Just a Civie but long interest in the forces ever since spending summers with the Grand Parents up beside Kinloss.

Ironically enough I now live in Moray so love getting buzzed by the Typhoons & Tornadoes.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Usual rather opinionated post by Soloman over on snafu. Apparently the UK has "gone sour" on the F35b & the carriers. http://snafu-solomon.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/if-brits-are-sour-on-f-35-then-what.html?m=1 He has some great stuff on his blog at times, then the next time he just talks ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

As a very long time lurker over on MP.net I wish this new site the best of success. I found the QE carrier thread to be incredibly educational. My thanks to all the contributors. I wish this thread & forum all the best ( can't say I'm impressed by the mpnet replacement so far) I'll go back to lu...
