Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Any issues the type 45 have are very likely to be addressed sooner than later ,future upgrades are only likely to make them more marketable while they have some significant service life ahead of them .

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Earlier comments published were on the the practice of, to paraphrase extending the the serice life of the R.N ships, instead of perhaps selling and replacing earlier ,if type 45 was sold after say twenty years then a program to design its replacement could begin now ,certainly the better return pri...

Re: Brexit - The UK's European Union Referendum

What is actually known and undisputed as to the actual financial cost to the U.K of leaving the Euro Zone ?
Anything substantial will impact budgetary considerations for all outlays like for example defense projects.

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)

I was referring to the block 4 upgrade that could include the carrying of the JSM , although production costs of the program mean subsequent aircraft are cheaper than the initial runs , extra funds will again need to to be added to bring these first aircraft to to 4f ,the difference in cost of these...

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)

A recent article I read and I apologise for not remember to cite it, suggests increasing the production rate of the F35 will increase the cost of the program with the number of preceding aircraft needing to be upgraded to 4f ,it may be that the U.K is saving substaintionally this way with the delay ...

But in the first gulf war amphibious forces of the U.S.M.C were used as decoys to move large amounts of Iraqs armed forces to the coast to defende against this type of landing which of course never took place

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

In consideration of air to air refueling surely an aircrafts stealth or lack of it would be a consideration , comparing the Super Hornet and it aility to refuel other aircraft it has had design work providing a lower return for radar , a gatling type gun on a V-22 would likely increase further its r...

I dont know if this has been posted earlier ,the question is will all the R.A.F pilots of the F35b have carrier training ,cerainly 607 squadron is to be posted to the carriers but would there be deployment elsewhere of the aircraft and the pilots without this special training

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)

A point also to remember with the f35c s that even the super hornet is not unchallenged by new aircraft being either deployed or built ,the U.S.N would want dominant aircraft on their ships for air to air combat

The Kilo class submarine often uses the type 53 to 65 wake homing torpedo launched from 11.8 miles and is not wire guided , they can cause serious damage to the rear of a carrier , or any ship.
