Absalon is a bit slow isn't it? I seem to remember it loses two diesels and maxes out at 24 knots. making it a bit useless as a frigate.
Designed for a rather unique Danish requirement not sure it travels well.
By the way, that stern launch is for calm water use. Next to useless in the NA.

Don't think the pintle mounted M3M will fit with the wings attached Is that different with the current weapons carrier? I don't remember ever seeing the gun and the carrier fitted at the same time. FFS, the pathetic defeatism on display in this thread is just that, pathetic. Tempest is about keeping alive a fully sovereign capability alive in dozens of areas related to high tech military aerospace for decades to come and keeping hold of tens of thousands, proabably hundreds of thousands of jo...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
It's being speculated that Combat Air is going to take the biggest hit as part of the 'Integrated' Review... Looks like the MoD is going to finally admit that the 138 figure is unachievable, looks like we may be about to bail on F-35...not sure if it also means the Tranche 1 Typhoon reprieve is rev...

Re: NavyX - the Royal Navy’s new Autonomy and Lethality Accelerator
Or is he willing to say scrap the Albions to find the necessary funding. Or the T31e programme. Scrapping the Albions (which are amongst the most flexible ships in the fleet) is madness. Complete blue sky, but illustrates a point - what if the Albions were modified to have a permanent hangar for 3-...

Re: NavyX - the Royal Navy’s new Autonomy and Lethality Accelerator
And the Chief of the Air Staff still states the RAF is to get 130+ F-35s. Until a production contract is signed and the purchase fully funded all the faith in the world means very little. It maybe more accurate to say the RN aspires to putting an number 30m UUVs with a 3000km range into service. Or...

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
Yes. Integration is a risk. But if you have the stuff, in the backroom, and the accountants are valueing it up every couple of years (cost of carry; though going interest rates are close to negative territory) - which is the bigger risk? Junking the stuff? Or integrating it? Integrating it because ...

The only source for the CAMM being GFE is Richard Scott, I hope he is correct and not misleading us. Not seen that mentioned anyplace else. Though the mushrooms are a pretty big clue.

Re: AW159 Wildcat Helicopter (RN & AAC)
Answered here, a very precise 360kg of lift per side. Must be a maximum. Nice photo. It does look good. Can't help but be a little disappointed that there isn't a mounting point at the end of the wing for a Stinger/Starstreak style missile. Or more usefully a fixed forward firing machine gun. A pai...

Re: NavyX - the Royal Navy’s new Autonomy and Lethality Accelerator
I wouldn't call it Major news at the moment. Yes a £1m contract has been let but that is barely seed money. For anything to actually be delivered is going to cost substantially more and we already know how many MoD procurement programmes have zero funding even though that are listed as being a prio...

Re: AW159 Wildcat Helicopter (RN & AAC)
I cannot see wings of that size generating that much additional lift to be honest, some but not a lot. They are more outrigger that wing. These are far different from those proposed for the US Army's new platforms or what were fitted to the Russian Mi-6 back in the day to maximise its left potentia...

Third in my series of Troll spotting is on Top Trumps equivalency. The equivalency states that if two things are named the same then they are the same and have the same capabilities. For example: Ford makes a vehicle with 5 seats, a trunk, 4 wheels and an enclosed body that will safely transport peo...
