Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)

I don't see anything on the CV90 that AJAX isn't either already capable of or would be capable of if it was a requirement. Funny how people think companies are supposed to go above and beyond the contract, and then what, pay for the extra capability themselves? In the seven years since they won the...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)

I agree that no one is perfect in this situation, but ultimately, learning and improving has to be the name of the game. Problem is how much good money has to be thrown after bad before they learn how to actually do their ****ing job all the while the Army continues to shrink and operate poor equip...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles

Janes is reporting Sea Venom and Martlet have been issued a limited 'release to service' order prior to IOC declaration (intended by the end of the year) and they are able to be used operationally as part of CSG21. In the full article, it's stated Sea Venom hasn't completed RN firing trials however ...

Re: Indian Armed Forces

I find it extremely cringeworthy when people slap on that Command and Conquer soundtrack on military videos. Far from sounding impressive it ends up coming off pretty juvenile.

Doubly frustrating when the video shows the various bands of the armed forces, why not put some of that over the video?

Huh, I wasn't aware JF-17 used MB ejector seats. From memory, the last Sino offering to Argentina was shot down (so to speak) as the Argentine Air Force desires Western avionics.

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

I agree with the general sentiment that seems to be forming - the class name is pants but the individual ships have some decent names amongst them.

You have to wonder what echo-chambers these people must be in who signed off on 'Inspiration Class'

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]

It sort of still is until it gets some sort of upgraded weapons fit akin to the Greek bid.

We've been burned by the 'look what is possible in the future!' attitude before so i'm not going to put a lot of store in much of this stuff being rolled out to the RN.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Would love to read about that, was it in a book or something? I'm pretty sure it comes up in Harrier 809 by Roland White So the worrying concern from the article posted is that the RAF still haven't ruled the F-35A out of the mix, much reduced as we know it's going to be. Keeps FCAS guys on their t...

Re: German Armed Forces

It would appear, following the FMS P-8 sale approval from the DSCA, Germany is likely to acquire the P-8A as the 'temporary' replacement for their P-3C fleet as the German Government has rejected the French proposal to lease 4 ATL-2. Putting a lot of store in an 'I know a guy' rumour. I wouldn't start worrying about it too much, especially as it sounds like a bit of an ass-backwards plan. Then there's the glaringly obvious that, if it was true, it's a bit silly for you to post it on a public forum. UKDJ reports on 'rumours' on t...

Battlegroup Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA) Programme

From Janes The UK’s Defence and Science Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has disclosed details regarding the proposed roll-out of the British Army’s next-generation anti-tank capability, called the Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA) programme. Speaking to Janes , Dstl and British Army officials de...

I figure it sounds like a fairly low risk option to test how well QNLZ manages large numbers of aircraft doing sorties with live weapons, while also contributing something useful (and maybe extra integration with Typhoon)

Hmm. Interesting mast, right behind the main gun. Not permanant is it? I also noticed Dragon's artwork needs some attention, its losing it's rear left ankle and toes! It looks similar to the mast that was fitted to one of the earlier shots of QNLZ doing sea trials which (I think) was measuring wind...
