Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
each nation could argue the same thing for their systems being standard across the RN, RAN & RCN maybe even the RNZN however making the design flexible enough that each nation can plug in and play its own sensors would make the design a much better export candidateSimon82 wrote:

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
I hope Australia and Canada pick the type 26, it would be a big boom for the UK ship building industry that has had a horrid track record of exports the last 40 years. I wonder if winning the competitions would drag the costs down so UK could order the full 13 set. getting 13-16 t26 would be excell...

Can't we change the next 5 to match the RAN design with CEA radar and 48 mk41 VLS ( quad pack CAMM in 12 ) leaving 32 for aint sub missiles and land strike, then over time upgrade the first 3 to match. Put aster on the T31s we already have the Artisan, the operators are trained on it we have the tr...

if you are going down that route might as well save money by NOT introducing another gun system and arming them with 3x DS30

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
The idea of the T31e taking some of the amphibious capabilities of the Damen Crossover is interesting IMO. Being able to accommodate a company of RMs, a couple of LCVPs/CB90s vis side Davies, ORCs and Vikings from a rear ramp, would be a serious capability. I know people are hung up on LPDs, but be...

they do say there are only 2 things you can be assured of in life Death and Taxes! the scandal of the overseas tax havens and the state of the national finances is throwing this into focus. I think Type 26 is being scrimped on to generate savings for type31. yes dumping the deterrent into the defence was totally unforseen. Yes exchange rates fluctuate......(it'll be interesting to see the exchange rate after the next election.) yes the MoD will have overruns to deal with and if the con...
