Re: Boeing P-8A Poseidon (Future Maritime Patrol Aircraft) (RAF)
It is interesting that every topic gets a mudslinger coming out, with assertations (most often without facts) that other people then feel obliged to put right - with facts. I suspect this is a new journalistic research method, and on my part I am done with it. My earlier response to such behavior w...

Re: Merlin helicopters
Its also why we ended up with loads of heavy lift helicopters and no proper assault and utility machines. The RAF wouldn't want the Blackhawk for instance, because it would be so obvious that it should belong to the AAC their would be a risk of them losing it. In my opinion with JHC they are trying...

The AH64E buy, plus wildcat will provide the Army a credible capability. Pleased to hear rumours of an MH47 buy for JPR and SF.

Re: Scimitar Class Patrol Vessel (RN)
Perhaps what is needed is a 30mm weapon that uses 30mm x 173 APFSDS-T rounds. These are supercavitating and hence very good at putting holes in boats below the waterline. Somewhat depends upon Gib's rules of engagement... Take the Oerlikon 20mm cannon from the Batch 1 River Class. The only money sp...

Re: Type 26 Global Combat Ship [News Only]
As for T26 effectiveness, I think it's been many decades since anyone has been able to gauge any warship by just looking at a picture and a short list of highlights. Seems to me that the online commentators that try to do that are rather dumb. Mentioning no names. If that's so, then you can say tha...

It is the low numbers of airframes per squadron that concerns me, with each squadron having only 12 on the books. These rotate out of deep maintenance, but how many can be reasonably deemed full serviceable per squadron at any one time. I know retaining squadrons numbers is the equivalent of army c...

care to elaborate Tin man where 5.56mm has been more successful at stopping an enemy than 7.62x51? recoil, for starters, then you have the fact you can carry more rounds. Oh and accuracy. 7.62x51 is well documented as succeeding where 5.56x45 fails and that stretches back to the 1960's The 5.56mmx45 succeds in where the 7.62mm fails also. A lot of information there, for the others to take up the baton (a discussion forum, this, I believe?) and carry on with the , err, discussion ?
