Re: Mid-term review for the Strategic review?
That £1.26b looks suspiciously similar to the extra funds that Gavin Williamson got at some point last year. As I said at the time, I suspect that we will see ad-hoc amounts being granted for the next few years to address the in-year shortfalls, rather than an overall uplift in funding (though the c...

radar upgrade to replace the current 2d set Actually, I can't see any reason to replace the Scanter 4100, unless you are proposing to bolt on a couple of dozen Sea Ceptor as well. It might be a "2D" radar, but it is intended for use in tracking both surface and airborne targets up to 3500...

Qatar is too "friendly" (not really in Iran's camp, but not getting on too well with Saudi at the moment). My guess would be Saudi or the Emiratis, particularly the relatively "soft" target of the Saudi oil facilities (I hope that they have improved defences since the last attack...

If 150 Challenger 3's are acquired (the current favorite number) and that only allows 2 regiments to be equipped, how many would be required to enable 3 regiments? Around 206 (3 x 56 plus the 38 extras implied by the 150 figure). If the extras were also increased pro-rata, then add another 50% to t...

Interesting upcoming questions include: will LEP be renamed Challenger 3 by Boris? (I would), will Warrior WSCP be cancelled and replaced with an Ajax family IFV like the Australian competition entrant but with the CTA 40mm turret? (I would) will the UK join with Germany to develop a joint solution...

No such thing as the "Scottish Constitutional Courts". The two top Courts in Scotland are the High Court of Justiciary, which deals with Criminal matters (with no appeal to the Supreme Court) and the Court of Session, which deals with civil matters (so Constitutional issues would fall with...

Nah, more like 20-40 I reckon The two most recent (Comres and YouGov) are saying high 20s to low 30s (say 28-32) at the moment. BMG/ICM are still in "no overall control" territory (-8/-7 respectively), which is pretty much where they started, I think. Opinium are sticking with a 124 seat ...

Surfaced launched Spear 3 is a fantasy weapon. Not in development, but not entirely fantasy - it's in MBDA's mind as a potential future development - from TD In a maritime context, MBDA has shown an artist’s impression of SPEAR with a booster, quad packed into a CAMM launch cell. This means custome...

I don't know how you can target a pilots eyes with a laser and still claim it's not meant to harm his (or her) eyesight. I'm pretty sure that the limits of what the human eye can tolerate without being permanently damaged are well known. You don't need to damage the pilot's eyesight, you just need ...

The Telegraph (yes - just a tad partisan, I know) tried to do an analysis a few days ago of what the potential effects of tactical voting might be.
