Re: Russian Armed Forces
Krylov has been rolling out a bunch of concepts lately, but so far they mostly seem to be something between "design exercise" and "BS we're showing off to seem more impressive" rather than actual programs.

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
Ron 5 wrote What do you guys think a T26 could do with a full electric system that they won't be able to do without one? I would have thought it would save having to fit what must be a very large, complicated and expensive gearbox to change from electric to direct drive. It would also allow the use...

Re: UK's successor submarines
I knew you were working on using the same missile and missile compartments, but for the so few SSBM for the RN using the USN to your advantage I thought would more logical with any offsets available going to more Astute Submarines, but that also means going around treasury which Defence rarely wins...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Have you seen how much of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) still exists and will exists for decades to come while it its radioactive half life deteriorates? The thing had EIGHT reactors. Enterprise couldn't be preserved as a whole museum ship because most of the ship was reactors. I think they cut off t...

Re: Future UK Maritime Patrol Options
As far as a probe and drogue system on P8, I very much doubt whether any work has been done on that score, if they are only just testing the boom system on it. In any case why would they, the US isn't going to use it , so if that is wanted by the UK then we are going to have to stump up the cash, a...

Re: Future UK Maritime Patrol Options
You guys don't believe in the Kawasaki P-1 despite the recent rumors ? I would believe that the UK would give it a look. But so far I think it will be a real challenge for the P-1 to compete on lifecycle costs in another country, which will be a big part of the equation when the UK is making decisi...

Re: Future UK Maritime Patrol Options
. Regarding being a sitting duck, as I said airships can move around by themselves, and if you shoot down a Hercules it makes a very big mess where it lands, whereas if you shoot down an airship it comes down very slowly and makes very little mess. Sorry to jump into this conversation but I feel th...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
If discussions get to a serious level, would the MOD think of letting a small detachment of the RCN work with BAE's design team, to let them see how T26 could be customized to their exact requirements. I would think that as they are pushing for exports with this project, it wouldn't be too difficul...

He has some great stuff on his blog at times, then the next time he just talks total shite Unfortunately one feeds the other, people who send him stuff do so because they like the shite he says and since saying it gets him cool stuff he proceeds to double down. Then you have the Foxtrot Alpha and M...
