Re: Type 26 Global Combat Ship [News Only]
By the time we get round to building them the models will be reaching the end if their service life. The model's at least two years old so ... Yes looking at it looks more like the 'OTO' than the Mk45 Mod 4 gun mount on the model. Just what I said, there is a model knocking around with a mod 4 on i...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicle Variants (Army)
He felt the motor had a little bit more to give but not much, if the thing ends up weighing in at 42 tons then the motor will be on its limit but that seems fair enough. He felt the real problem with off road performance was the torsion bar suspension and felt that hyrdo gas would have helped to imp...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicle Variants (Army)
Spoke to a reservist this weekend who is on the Ajax test team. did 20 years in armour, there is only one seat in the back which he is stunned at given the size of the beast. He is underwhelmed by cross country performance describing it as sluggish. A 20 year old design with torsion bar suspension w...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
If Atlantic Conveyor had been Invincible then she would have knocked down the incoming with seadart or one of the pickets would have got them or as the escorts deliberately kept very close station whey would have taken the hit and we would have carried on to win the war. A more likely scenario?

Albions are a funny mix of commercial items and construction standards, damage control is to military standards.

Re: Future Light Frigate
The type 26 build schedule was a long one and I thought that surely by the time we got to the end of it T26 would be "out of date" the 8 T26 will take long enough to build, the new light frigate design will be able to be designed to take in any changes seen necessary in the 2035-40 time fr...

Re: Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (Army)
I'd like it better if it didn't cut between scenes so much. It's always instructive to see how the Challengers are left wallowing in the wake of the Leopards which are going so much faster. ..or maybe the German tank crew were just pressing down harder on the accelerator pedal in those particular s...

This has been a really good discussion and I now have a better understanding of the RN's choice of CODOG and the change from power/propulsion from the T23, though gabby will disagree I think this is the correct choice for the RN
