Re: Section Infantry Weapons
This looks a bit awkward to lug around... Agree, but the TFB text has this part (from the manufacturer) to 'explain' "Due to the 40mm MV ammunition, the development of the SSW40 is closely related to the turret independent secondary weapon system (TSWA, Turmunabhängige Sekundärwaffenanlage in ...

I just hope the new coup-conspirators of Rushi and Javid do not get a look in as the new PM and also do not ever get any high office of state ever again - ever - then i wont be as angry... Apologies for using a quote from you, but this is what I say in the pubs: the reverse-takeover of the Empire h...

Re: UK Politics - General News & Discussion
Rumours are (for whatever they're worth) that Raab and Morduant aren't going to run, which is surprising. I'm not advocating Patel or Brawerman Interesting: Raab is head-over-shoulders with Patel. And Morduant is head over shoulders with Brawerman ... which leaves the only one to breathe, thorough ...

I like the way Sir Patrick Sanders speaks: will re-build our *stockpiles* and review the *deployability of our vehicle fleet*. And having seen its limitations first-hand as the Commander of the Field Army, I think we need to ask ourselves ask ourselves *whether Whole Fleet Management is the right mo...

Re: AS-90 Self-Propelled Gun (Army)
On further reflection, there are many stages at which you could step into between capability requirement and solution. Close to or at the capability end, you have "Stop Enemy doing what he is doing" and you then solutionise from there DE&S used to have x-Capability managers to see to ...

Re: AS-90 Self-Propelled Gun (Army)
Rheinmetall have gone public on their development. In that case while you write "should we have a requirement for a 60 calibre length gun", what you are really asking is "should we sole source this one to Rheinmetall?" From one and a half years back, a tad less might do 'just fi...

an APS and a fire direction sensor and any ATGW team could be in a world of hurt. err, a fire direction sensor would not help much once the missile (F&F) has been launched. Assuming there are several missile teams (of 1 or two). In the war like we are seeing in Ukraine some Russian commentators...

it is possible to carry an M270 in a A400 Atlas then that would improve the platforms expeditionary credentials but not by much as it is tactically inferior to the HIMARS when it comes to mobility. A v good point. We need to have as small as possible sensor to shooter loop, and we must be able to o...

This is incorrect. They were not intended for the direct-fire zone. Indirect fire is still combat, and still frontline. Would you like to elaborate on splinter-proof... as opposed to the various 30 mm from the front and 50 cal from all other sides ? Without any reference to MBTs; an art of its own ...

Re: Multi Role Vehicle – Protected - MRV(P)
I do not see the MRV(P) programme delivering vehicle like the types purchased under UORs for Afghanistan and Iraq. Hard to see the difference between some of the UORs and the so-called Batch2 - it being called B2 was based on the idea of (technical) standardisation, but when was it last that we saw...

A surprise to everyone: I actually like Boris!
But serial lies cannot be a substitute to policy/ policies.
- though, in his speech (setting out 'legacy') there were things that others, most likely, would not have had the balls to dictate... start with the extra £24 bn

Conservative Home have Ben Wallace as favourite to succeed and Penny Mordaunt as second favourite, followed by Liz Truss and Tim Tugendhat. Your proposal chimes much like the inter-war Gdansk. But as for Crimea, if the Ukrainian counter-offensive in the South is successful, Crimea can end up much like HK; without control over its main fresh water source. The fate of Crimea will depend on the state of Russia after thiols war ends, with t...
