Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
The trade offs that were made in the design of the F-35 will certainly hurt the programme going forward with other nations looking to reduce their purchases or alter their choice of next generation platform. the F-35 still has an important role to play as a day one stealth platform, but if later use...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
This does sort of confirm that the historical 3 Commando Brigade is dead as a deployable force as we knew it. How this may affect our plans as well as NATO's for the reinforcement of Northern Norway would be interesting to know as well as how much NATO has been consulted regarding the changes being ...

Probably keep tabs on Mother and then go and investigate any cables in the area with our own DSVs when they have moved on. Just another "Grey" area of warfare we have to deal with, but mind you we did it to the USSR back in the day, recording all Northern fleet telephone conversation for q...

You can be certain that US and UK SSNs are going to be sniffing around it as soon as it is possible. This sort of work has never stopped even after the Cold War ended it never really did in the world of the submarine.

Well the Spike-ER2 is a very good missile with a 10-18km range, man in the loop guidance option and there is a Spike manufacturing capability in Europe. In fact we should consider the Whole family of 5th Generation weapons, from the Spike-SR to the NLOS that we already use as Extractor.

It maybe less well armed but is probably better for the role the T-23 in the Gulf is currently carrying out. IF things turns hot though, it would need back up quickly.

Between 2025 and 2030 we are going to be looking to replace the L85A3 according to what I can find so going by that premise should we adopt the US 6.8mm IR and AR. I have a real soft spot for the Sig Sauer proposal which is probably the most evolutionary rather than revolutionary as the other two se...

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
For the up coming Review to be viable, the Government is going to have to be honest with both itself and the public about what is sees as the role of the Armed Forces moving forward. Once your Military drops below a certain critical mass it is very difficult and expensive to increase it. If the Army...

Looking at the videos, both platforms should be used to equip part of 16XX Brigade giving it the ability to have at least half the Brigade mobile as well as having the ability to move its heavier equipment far more easily. The ability to deploy these vehicles far more easily due to their weight and ...

Fascinating video on how you the Swedes adapted the tracks on their AFVs to deal with snow and the lack of grip. IT also shows how the solutions have evolved over time. Makes on wonder if the British Army has any such kit laying around in its depots in case it needs to deploy tracked armour into Nor...

Here is a reminder of what the Archer/MAN combo brings to the table. Of direct interest is the "Limber" Vehicle, also a MAN 8x8 that carries 100 rounds and refill the Archers 21 round magazine with shells and charges in five minutes automatically.

According to Defence News, Lockheed Martin are very worried that the WCSP will be cancelled in the up coming Review. I wonder if this is just recycled rumour or if they have been in discussions with MoD, and have been notified that this is a serious possibility though not 100% certain?

We have only ordered one Regiments worth, that is three CAMM Field Batteries in total, plus those for training and a few others for other tasks. Each Archer/MAN 8x8 also has a reload vehicle based on the MAN 8x8 platform available to it within the Battery, designed to rapidly reload a number of guns...

There is simply no money availa...
