Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
48 is not a viable number, for CSG. I’d be much more worried if my service had wasted billions on a wheeled armoured vehicle only to say no, then yes years later, similarly with the selection for the replacement of the CVRT, warrior is on the block.

All F35b articles relating to cuts, split buys. Then the times has as much credibility with defence reviews as piers Morgan. The F35 will be manufactured Atleast until 2044, Like i said previously the 48 is an initial purchase, more will be need to Maintain CSG, OCU, T&E, plus there’s a small is...

Wow ,cut f35 to only 48 lol,I think not Check back, @inch, several years before this Forum was started, I said that 48 was going to be the number ... that was on TD, so quite a bit of history here. The number is less important; it is the 'WHY' for that number We will buy more than 48, otherwise the...

With Germany ordering additional NH-90s and us set to replace Puma, there's a great deal of time for all sorts of cracks That is the point; we were pushed the way of 'heavy' bcz of A-stan we were over-light (a long time ago) the 'middle' has been 'lost' = patched over Oh-boy; we have the gunships o...

It'll be interesting to see the workshare crapshoot that comes out of this one I would be mildly shocked if the programme doesn't split at some point. With Germany ordering additional NH-90s and us set to replace Puma, there's a great deal of time for all sorts of cracks and political infighting to...

Yep, but the L128A1 was widely issued in Iraq and Afghanistan and is now along with other shotguns, limited to SF and a few but very few other units. Where did you here that? Read that as there are available in the armoury where I am stationed, you should read the pinstriped line, blog as it has as...

Other specialist units are also starting to use the L119A2 is for its greater utility in CQB condition, such as being ambidextrous, but I get your point regarding SF. The L7 is still a bloody good weapon, shame it took the US so long to realise. Its only real downside is weight, and going down the ...

Re: Section infantry weapons
The current 5.56mm Ball ammunition used by the British Army, the L31A1, greatly increases its lethality at longer ranges but is different from what the US are using, the M855A1 EPR. However its terminal performance has been said to be equal to standard NATO 7.62 at ranges up to 600m. The other big ...

Re: Section infantry weapons
The M4 is useless at ranges past 200m. Period. The Diameco C5/6/7 series are a bit better and have the option of fitting a longer barrel and the changeable barrel/ breach for 7.62x51. The advantage of lightness, commonality, and easier to clean are in the M4's favour but having used both and the C5...

A severe case of what-about-iss instead of talking to the point. F-35 points belong to that thread, not in Brit-bashing on some other thread. The original Brimstone had the same airframe as Hellfire so the same range, about 10-12 km from a helo. It's only with Brimstone 2 that the range increased. The manufacturer claims it's been doubled. That version has only been available for a couple of years and I don't think anyone has acquired it...

Re: Boeing P-8A Poseidon (MRA Mk.1) (RAF)
We will be getting a further buy of 8, announced after the election. Would be nice, but sounds either too good to be true (with additional funds made available to acquire them) or a bit crap if it means cuts elsewhere to fund them. Either way, why wait until after the GE to announce it? And, if it'...

Ron5 there is only one Navy who have successfully deployed and destroyed incoming enemy SSM The US Navy did that just 3 years ago off Yemen. there is only one Navy who have deployed a Amphibious task force and complete a contested landing. This is so inaccurate. You're seriously claiming the US Nav...

Ron5 there is only one Navy who have successfully deployed and destroyed incoming enemy SSM, there is only one Navy who have deployed a Amphibious task force and complete a contested landing.
