Nice article but whenever one is written about Tempest by a UK journalist, you can, without doubt, always pick up on their underlying cynicism that it will ever fly.
Its a boring narrative that needs to change.

On the one hand COVID is a bit of a poor excuse Not really, when you think who is in charge of Covid policy up there. That toxic little maniac gimp, Sturgeon. Who has spent the last 2yrs grandstanding and constantly throwing her weight around with more stringent lockdowns, just so as to be seen as ...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)
For Europe the CA3 should be more than adequately mobile. Well, we can argue about the merits, good and bad, of the C3 all day long but one area I'd argue that is unarguable, are the numbers. 148 hulls, of which, probably no more than 100 will ever be combat ready and available at any one time, is ...

Sure, as long as you can look past the antiquated diesel power plant, which will still leave the C3 very much in the slow lane compared to its fellow NATO tanks.

Not really an issue for Indonesia. They just want these to patrol the multitude of Islands that make up their territory. They won't be venturing much further than that in their lifetime.

India is approaching the point where it will/want to break free of France and their very expensive products Well, that's going to be a lot of disappointed corrupt Indian politicians & defence contractors, so looking forward to their brown envelopes, stuffed with cash, under the table bribes, th...

Meanwhile.... Typhoon and F-22 can happily supercruise with max A2A loadouts at m1.6 and above at altitudes the others can't approach....it's a colossal advantage but never gets remarked on, far more useful tactically than how quickly you can turn down low and slow... ..And yet no one seems to put ...

There is just one word needed to describe these REMOANERS / REJOINERS / SPOILERS and that is simply “Quislings”. More like a bunch self entitled, middle class fucks, who just can't let go of the fact that the 'plebs' didn't do as they were told by their 'betters'. In their minds, Any view or opinio...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
Basically, do we know of the timeline? 2024-25 is when the decision to release funds for BAE and its partners to proceed to the flying prototype phase is expected, then the better part of a decade of flight trials, refining & testing the prototypes, ready for full scale production, for entry in...

Its getting really tiresome seeing pictures of these carriers at sea with everything on the flight deck except the one bloody thing they were built to carry.
..are they wrapping these F35's up in cotton wool with a 'Break glass in case of emergency' deployment rule or something.

will they still be legal tender after that date at banks I imagine a lot of old people will still have them and not be tech savy enough or know about the deadline Yes, you'll be able to swap them for newer notes at the Banks (and possibly Post Offices that now offer banking services, but not 100% s...

Seems like more F35B are on order....... https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/britain-clears-funding-for-additional-tranche-of-f-35-jets/ Next batch should take us up to 72 jets, the absolute minimum required to have two carriers at sea (in a worst case, war time scenario), each equipped with at least 1...

Re: Section Infantry Weapons
Whether we adopt the Sig weapons or try to develop a UK or partner with other countries for a european weapon will affect the cost and timeline for any programme to replace I'd have thought that the cost is going to have to come way down on the Sig platform for the UK to adopt it. Something like $4...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
That's not the case with the RN versions. Thats true but they should be armed to the same standard as the vessels they are replacing - the T23GPs. The argument that the T23 class were conceived during the Cold War and the world is a much less dangerous place now does not really stand up to scrutiny...
