Re: The war in Ukraine
https://twitter.com/WarMonitors/status/1617901436863676417 Looks like Abrahams could be heading to Ukraine - most likely a "fig leaf" for German weakness ... With a few hundred Leopard and Abrams the Russians will literally be rolled up and swept back over the boarder, there's little Puti...

Re: FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (British Army)
The other Leo users are trying to send them, but Germany is blocking....pretty clear cut. More to do with German arms industry losing out when those nations need backfill their tank donations, they won't be buying German given Germany's actions this last 11 months....a morally repulsive position tha...

France should be thinking about pulling out if the joint Euro tank ASAP. If they can afford it, the joint fighter jet, too...can you imagine France wanting to allow Germany to constrain its exports of military equipment?

Re: Type 32 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
What is properly armed we don't know yet how Type 31 will be armed on her first deployment as said my guess is T-31 will be fitted with 1 x 57mm , 2 x 40mm , 24 x CAMM & 8 x NSM plus a Wildcat able to carry 20 x LMM , 4 Sea Venom or a mix of both making it a good Global Patrol Frigate In later ...

If it's a properly armed T31, that would be the perfect outcome. It's the only way to get a 2nd Tier Frigate at an affordable price and quickly

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
I think this Government would like to sign up to a watertight contract (ala Brown and the carriers) so Labour can't back out of it. Still don't see us getting much more than 100 I don't favour governments continuing to govern after they have left office through punitive contract cancellation clause...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
150 Tempest for UK. Sounds like fantasy stuff to me. HMG hasn't made any substantive policy changes with regards to defence to indicate that they are taking it (and Russia and China) seriously. If indeed 150 ever did materialise, it'd be at such a slow annual rate that I'll be far too dead to eat my...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
If I ran the Italian Air force, I would be questioning Tempest involvement, as it will divert needed funding on a duplication of capability..... What we do ignore AMX, M346 and all programs we have to develop a national industry? So It would be a duplication for Italy but not for Japan? Kinda stran...

The "increase" sounds like its brought about by including funds allocated to support Ukraine as "defence spending" and to replenish (at least partially) munition stocks donated to Ukraine. Likely a decrease in reality when you exclude those spends

Re: The war in Ukraine
Think that is the Americans way of telling Germany to step up and supply more systems to Ukraine - rather than sitting on the sidelines and sprinkling in the odd old system from time to time.. I think this is more about Germany's terrible PR game and their early reluctance. Germany has significantl...

It’s a series of fuselage frames with lug attachments (brkts if you like) at the top to attach the radar and fairing mounts, the new crown panel nests round that. https://breakingdefense.com/2022/12/uk-industry-officials-raise-eyebrows-over-royal-air-force-f-35-e-7-and-a400m-programs/ Elsewhere, an...

Re: Type 32 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
IMO the likelihood of the T32 programme being scrapped just went through the roof. A mix of additional T26 and T31 looks like the most sensible way to proceed if HMG are really serious about growing escort numbers. Unlikely to see more T26. If we're lucky we might get a batch 2 of uparmed T31 if ba...

A mixture of things coming out here, not sure how much is correct and how much is remainers (in Government, Parliament, civil servants, media) pushing their own agenda.
