I have zero clue why anyone in their sane mind, and i mean anyone, would vote for this bunch.
To my mind, they are the worst threat to the UK's well being from when Seelowe was looming on the other side of the Channel.

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
What i read was the opposite: the 2-vehicle approach was abandoned because it led to much increased radio traffic between the vehicles, with obvious correlate issues. The prototype fit eventually trialed was for a single vehicle solution. What's not clear is whether that kit is funded, since it is n...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicle Variants (British Army)
Need 245 for 4 battalions, and turrets/guns have already been ordered. 250 is unworkable, and 280 also. You'd be cutting all REME vehicles, pretty much. Which are not used just in armoured infantry units, but REME battalions and tank regiments.
The whole thing would fall apart.

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
An Arrowhead 140 selection would be very welcome news, as far as i'm concerned. Design-wise, it's a clear winner. The RN ships will still be woefully under-equipped at entry in service, but at least there will be less constraints to their slow growth once in service. More credible customisation for ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
I just think it is kind of pointless to get too hang up on SAMPSON for a destroyer to be built in the late 30s. There better be some advancement on the radar front by then, or the Royal Navy will seriously be lagging.

Re: Apache Attack Helicopter (British Army Air Corps)
I think Brimstone 3 has many advantages over Hellfire, especially in performance, but there are a couple of advantages that Hellfire R has over it at present, particularly around fusing (height of burst etc). Going with Hellfire would be a stop-gap in any case. The US are about to transition to JAG...

Re: Apache Attack Helicopter (British Army Air Corps)
however it still lacks the raw power of the UK D's Weird. I'm pretty sure i read that the new engines and new transmission actually delivered more useable power than the AH1's combination. Anyway, as the US Army will transition to the T901 ITEP engine in the coming years, it is pretty likely that b...

Not much gets out, but i think Litening V has been in the works for a while. Litening III replacement was in the pipeline for some time, and the V has some very noticeable reconnaissance capabilities beyond targeting, much more than the III, which would "solve" two problems at once, the se...

Re: Apache Attack Helicopter (British Army Air Corps)
Apache remanufacture order is one of few things that i wouldn't worry about. There is nothing mysteryous on the lack of an announced contract for the last 12: they will be part of the next (and last) US Multi Year Production contract, which won't be announced for a a few more months. The last 12, in...

There's 11 or 12 vehicles being used in the Reliability Growth Trials. Until the manufacture order is confirmed, there won't be others.

MBDA formulates one concept per year. Most go nowhere.
FCASW can be part of that family of system... or even the only part to see light. Depends on whether someone forks out the money for the rest.

Some MOD idiocies and some parts of Britain's way of handling matters in and around Parliament as a whole are just idiotic to no end.
Then people wonders why every department leaks stuff to the press. Of course they do. This idiotic "we aren't saying anything" makes it utterly unavoidable.

Re: FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (British Army)
The WARRIOR pre-upgrade has 3 2-man benches and a single small seat which, as far as i know, is right on top of the CBRN toilet. In practice the Army seems to have set the armoured infantry section at 6, and that seems reasonable. Can imagine it is a rather tight fit already. Interesting about ARES,...

Re: FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (British Army)
Well, in theory the MIV should be quicker, considering the numbers involved, since the first brigade is supposed to be outfitted by 2023. The contract should come before year's end... and considering this is a DSEI year, you'd expect an announcement right there and then.

FOC means regiments being operational, if not deliveries being completed. So does FOC in 2025 mean we will at least have the two frontline Armoured Regiments equipped with the Challenger 2 mod.

Nicholas Drummond apparently was in Tidworth yesterday for an industry briefing and says report is incorrect. MOD Major General Chris Tickell, Director of Capability says "beginning of 2020" and programme continues to aim for FOC by 2025. Early 2020 arguably is a delay in itself, but much ...

CAMM-ER is interesting but I still don't know a lot about it. Do the Italians take the standard missile and put a boaster on it? If so it will fit in the Type 23/26 silo, can it be quad packed? Is it all made in Italy? Is it a naval missile? the MDBA show land pictures of the launch. It is a CAMM m...
