Re: Eastern Europe
Nice to see but is this anything more than a PR stunt. Could this be the blue print for future UK deployments i.e. only Battalion based battlegroups. If they were taking it seriously the vehicles would have TES packages fitted to show how fast we can actually get a warfighting formation in theatre....

Agreed, and these complex machines all tend to have their own unique niggles, something I imagine is more prevalent on the T45 owing to the poor build quality, so it may loose awareness of some issues. However we have billion pounds assets working less than 20 percent of the time, so something has ...

@sharkbait, have you any military experience?
Have you seen the Al Faw peninsula and the assets it need to be taken?
Your posts come about as "Fantasy" shipbuilding, "Airforce" etc with out any substance, all what if we had this etc.

As to over horizon capability unless you have massive helicoper lift that can handle stuff like Ajax and Challenger non starter you need ship to shore landing capability where you are landing over a beach. That's crap, air mobile forces have long been effective without main battle tank's. If we loo...

Very old picture. I have no problems with medics looking all bombed up and steely eyed. In fact our recent AO, our oppositions are not signatory of the GC. We conduct ourselves with very stringent ROE.

Why the M16 Mag? A rocking magazine like the AK series or the FN FAL would seem more suited to a bullpup Why on earth would you want a rocker mag on a bullpup? Have you seen bullpup conversions of ak's? Mag changes are so awkward, the pistol grip either gets in the way and/or has to be hollowed out...

I challenge you How is your shooting ability, btw? My best at the age of six with revolver at 25 mtrs was 48. And in my second week of service (the first time on the range, 250 mtrs with ARs) I reached the Gold Standard, which only 4% manage, regardless of their years of service . On a range with a...

Re: Section infantry weapons
a barrel around 7 inches would be needed! Interesting stuff about the ranges (leaving aside the "punch" aspect) "AAC estimated a .300 Blackout gun with a 16" barrel would have an effective range of 460 meters, but that the 9” version would still be useful out to 440 meters. By c...

Have one bloke with the DMR. Or even two, so that the parts of the section moving and covering would each have one. And if you do it, do it properly: combining suppression at longer ranges with markmanship http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2010/12/21/noreen-bad-news-338-lapua-semi-auto-ar-style-ri...

One of the reasons USA have stayed with the 9mm, is that it is easier to train recruits to shoot with From my rather limited civilian target-shooting experience, 9mm is definitely easier than heavier calibres to sustain accuracy with. Heavier recoil is more wearing (important over a full day compet...

I understand the benefits of the wave of smaller high penetration rounds as used by the MP7 and the P90, and I have heard some stories regarding the MP7 being either seriously looked at or in use with some people. But the US has a thing for man stoppers like the .45 especially when they are allowed...
