Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

Development of the tempest programs is already underway, why your projecting development cost fwd to 2035 I don’t know nor your calculations of 50/60b by then. I'm projecting the development costs to 2035 because AFAIK 2035 is the projected in service date, so when the NAO does its eventual report ...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

A more central role in R&D could (?) mean more cost, but forgetting that and thru-life costs (anybody's guess), the case of getting 150-ish for 30 bn looks a bit optimistic considering that the overall costs will be shared across a production volume likely to be a quarter (max) of the F-35 prod...

Re: Donald Trump

Later there's an opinion that the GOP establishment would have been fine with Trump usurping democracy - had it been looking as succeeding? - we will see, when the Senate trial starts - how to rub Trump off from history, when there are two wings of the party to hold together? I'll be very surprised...

Re: Donald Trump

that would be a good call.... but i think they want to get it done and dusted, then move on to their plans That's a perfectly understandable instinct, but a conviction would rely on Mitch McConnell delivering seventeen votes from his caucus which means that Schumer has to keep him onside. Give McCo...

Re: Donald Trump

They're just bolstering the case against him.... good thing the trial is delayed to Feb, a little more time for people to uncover the true connections between Trump and the attack If I was the Democrats I'd give serious consideration to delaying the trial until next Spring because that will give en...

Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]

what are the expected Out of Service Dates for the Type45? V tightly spaced: 2035-37 I know that's the plan but I wouldn't be remotely surprised if they don't start being retired until 2040. I could see the whole build of 6 ( or hopefully 8+ ) being stretched past 2040 but I can’t see the start dat...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal

In the future, the UK would have to consolidate the national football teams into just one team Yes please - we should have done that years ago!. Just imagine if Georgie Best and his ilk (if he has ever had an equal) had been able to play for the football eqivalent of the British Lions! I suspect th...

Re: Donald Trump

makes me think there's a lot of GOP facing serious issues VERY soon. In Russia the challenger say that # the old man, huddled in the Kreml# is so afraid that the normal legal process cannot be followed ... will there be any (should it ever happen) free of such issues :?: Indeed. No one tends to ask...

Re: Irish Defence Forces

I'd imagine that an armed version of the T-7 would probably fit the bill I'd be a bit cautious there. While we tend to see Tu-95 Bear MPA Russia has also sent down Su-30/ Su-35 challenging UK/ Irish airspace. You'd really need something like Rafale/ Gripen/ Typhoon/ F-35 armed with Meteor/AMRAAM an...

Which, if she was the one to show the terrorists the escape routes and give them maps.... wasn't just a naïve attempt at showing the speaker is safe... but a call for the terrorists to go to where Pelosi would escape through to get her. There's suggestion that the person that lead the 'recon tour' was Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO),,, and she reportedly showed the people with her the escape routes and detailed maps of the building... If this is accurate... her goose is burnt to a cinder... she's going to jail and for a LONG time. She's...

The numbers like that because they know there's an armed attack threat on the event... and they're embarrassed at the failure to prevent the last one, so they're pulling out all the stops. Or, there's something dodgy going on and the numbers being pushed around are just an attempt at covering it up...

Then again Trump might like to hand over the reins to Pence on a quid pro quo of receiving a blanket pardon lol I don't think that there's any way that Pence pardons Trump after Trump incited a mob to attack the Capitol who threatened to hang Pence while Pence and his wife and daughter were in the ...

Re: Donald Trump

Any truth to the speculation that Pence is holding back from 25th Amendment action for fear of provoking Trump to do something even more extreme? I think that it's for fear of provoking the Trump base to ditch the Republicans entirely that it hasn't been invoked because if Pence did invoke the 25th...

Beijing and Moscow have had a late Christmas present this will tarnish America’s reputation for years a massive failure of security and respect for a democracy so terribly sad. Sadly, this might end up being for the best. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns public opinion quite decisively against...
