Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
I agree cutting any T26 would be stupid, I don't think they will as it will be a few years (late 20's-2030's ? ) until the total cost will have to be paid for the second batch due to a glacial build rate... I could see them doing a second batch of 3, then a 3rd batch though ! to spread ( raise ! ) t...

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)
In this review I think we will be lucky to just retain the plans we had from the last review, i.e. 2nd batch of T26 !!! if we can keep a Albion & both carriers on rotation that would be good But further ahead, a second batch of T31 would be good with a hull mounted or TAS if viable, would be bet...

Thanks for the reply xav
I'm not surprised something like this would get pushed back until the best possible moment. spending money on defense at the moment would probably not go down to well with the majority of voters - unfortunately

Re: Australian Defence Force
I think your right another carrier in the area to counter china would be good Would be good to see but would that not require a total redesign converting a slower LHD to 30 knot + CATOBAR carrier ? might be easier buy the Cavour design from the Italians or the Japanese izumo, i'm sure either would b...

Re: Boeing P-8A Poseidon (MRA Mk.1) (RAF)
Isn't that the same UAV that our Australian friends are going to buy for their needs along with the P8? I seem to remember reading somewhere that we in the UK were thinking about something similar, would think we need something more than just 9 x P8's especially if a land surveillance role maybe on ...

Re: Boeing P-8A Poseidon (MRA Mk.1) (RAF)
Would a few airbus C295mpa fit the role ?
Used for low level short range coastal patrol to keep an eyeball on shipping with a rescue ability, how many could be bought for the price of say 3 x p8's ? then use the P 8's for long range missions,

Halfway there, They are the size of frigates !!
Wonder what people would think of the T31 if they had 24 x CAMM & 16mk41 vls, TAS or HMS as well as the guns? oh well....

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Never thought about the 40mm from the T31 instead of the 30mm, perhaps the MOD / navy are considering their options, hence the delay ? if it is a delay ? What is the cost compared to the 30mm ? would they fit martlet to the mount aswell in the future ? What are the benefits, fire rate, stopping powe...

The MOD comment is awsome !!!
I think your right about the POW being too big for Oz, just think of all the extra F35 (B version for the navy) they would have to buy, Trump would love it !!! hope he's not reading this as it may give him idea's

Re: Future Solid Support Ship
I was hoping the idea was to assemble the FSSS blocks ( made at various locations inc CL ) at rosyth like the carriers, after the T31 are assembled & in the water ( last one in the water fitting out in 2026? ) then maybe after the FSSS are built the experience would help with the Albion's replac...
