Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
Would a b3 T26 have a 57mm main gun, replace mk41 with a simpler VLS for CAMM could have the ER version aswell as the original 48, along with T45 for the CSG, leaving the other T26 for othe roles....i really do think the RN need a long range fast response all weather ASROC type armament though - whi...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
If very early insertion of Mk41 is assured, then further unnecessary work to create the Mushroom Farm may even be halted. It might also speed handover to the RN. You're assuming the Mk 41's will replace the mushrooms. I'm not so sure they will. I think they will be additional to. I think you are un...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Since we are spending lots of money on the T45 PIP & CAMM upgrades etc i actualy hope they have longer service lives than 2038 so maybe we could fit in a extra 1 or 2 T26's to increase th ASW for the RN by defering the T83 a couple of years.......while modestly increasing the fleet numbers

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
Will be good to get them into service ASAP to lift the burdon from the hard worked T23's - if they come into service with 24 CAMM ( preferably more ) get NSM ASAP, then maybe update only 2 or 3 with mk41 as extra ' "MEAT" if they were part of a task group, if they are mainy going to be use...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
if there was money to put mk41 on the T45 ? i would rather put it towards speeding up the T26 if possible as they have mk41 from the start, probably would have 1 or 2 T26 in service before the first 45 gets mk41 anyway......

Think they realised 48 wasnt enough a while ago, putting CAMM on will be huge verses a relativly low cost .....cant come soon enough !

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
On the bright side - it gives POW the chance to shine & work up the air capability sooner than planned & at a gentle pace than next years planned 24 in 25 deployment, also, is not better to discouver these things on routine checks rather than at sea....

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Concerning the T31 weapons fit - are they not getting the NSM from the T23 when they retire ? so instead of getting possible 8,16 or 32 mk 41 would it be better ( cheaper ) to fit ExLS for just CAMM, as they will be our tier 2 ships & save the high end FCASW stock for the T26 & tier1 ships ?

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
The Albions should have gone…. I don’t have an issue with the Albions going but they should be replaced with another vessel. My preference is for a £1bn LHA operating with the 2x CVFs in rotation using 2 crews. IMO it’s sensible and pragmatic providing one permanently available LHA or CVF 2/3 of th...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
If my memory not playing me false from what little i can remember of my structural engineering classes the size/thickness of the plating can add substantial strength to a structure. Modern warship "skin" is relatively thin which gives rise to the starved dog look. Its function is mostly t...
