Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
A cockpit that folds sideways like the Guppies would be useful, but this looks like it is side loaded only... Side loaded via clamshell doors to fit 3 of these in, in 15 minutes. 1.5 tonne max in each one. https://i.imgur.com/65A26Hx.jpg Apologies, I should have specified... In relation to the F135...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
What about the other underwing pylons that can be fitted to the F-35? If needed surely these could also carry a number of Meteors? How are you going to sneak up on the bad guys if you do that?? Well if we're doing it Sneaky-Beaky like, they won't know how many planes we have in the air and will tur...

Re: UK Future Vertical Lift Programme
I don’t really see the V-280 as a competitor to the V-22 but more of a complimentary aircraft, when you look at there size, there lift capacity and troop load they both fit in to different areas. To me the V-22 sits between a merlin and chinook in the above where as the V-280 sits between the wildc...

Re: Airbus A330 Voyager (MRTT) (RAF)
Well unless the MoD makes a costly change to AirTanker's contract there is no chance of it happening... And the only way that will really have a chance of happening is if AirTanker can make money refuelling other nations (like Omega does).

Re: Joint Helicopter Force
Does anyone happen to know why we dropped out of the NH90? The TTH (and more so the new MTT) would have been an obvious Puma replacement... And maybe if we was in, we could have fixed some of the issues early (like how stupidly low it sits)?
P. S. I can guess why we didn't want the NFH...

Re: Joint Helicopter Force
Think the 169 is to small, "seating up to ten" would be in light order (it's barely any bigger than the Wildcat... It would have made a good basis for the Wildcat rather than the Lynx). The more ideal minimum size would be the 139.

Re: Joint Helicopter Force
The obvious replacement (based purely on spec's) would be the NH90, however that's still riddled with problems (from what I've read recently on the unreliable interweb), is massively expensive to operate and get parts for... Blackhawk is the more likely option MH139 is now a FMS OPTION (Although pro...

Re: Section infantry weapons
For example, when he puts on the handguard, he is bolting it on... If they could find a push pin solution, that be better. Having said that, this generation is better than the previous one that used a unique bracket (so they could use the same handguard as the conventional rifle layout).
