Re: Russian Armed Forces
Lie. Russia is little that is imported from Ukraine. And now the majority of Ukrainian plants are bankrupt. Yourself can't deliver, not to mention the exports. Russia can't decide is Ukraine a friend or enemy. So when they have friendly government they pursue integration with their defence industry...

Re: River Class (OPV) (RN)
I just noticed that the B1s will be based at Newcastle, Liverpool and the Cardiff - does anyone know the operational rationale is for basing at these locations? In addition, what facilities does the RN have at these sites for the vessels and the crew? Agreed, I don't see why this forward basing? Ju...

no bluffing that will help Lots(!) been tried. regardless. greater emphasis on regaining sovereignty I've said once before, but (why not again!): - is France not sovereign - is Germany not sovereign ... one can say 'no' but what is there that they (and us before) do not have a veto on? Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
It has been a remainers stitch up; remainer PM, Chancellor, cival service, HoC, HoL and big business have colluded to negotiate a relationship which does not honour the spirit of the referendum result...We are getting brexit in name only. A Leave PM could have negotiated a different outcome. There ...

Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
I don't think that anybody else could negotiate a better deal with the EU. Simply, UK has a very bad hand and there's no bluffing that will help there. Nobody's stupid. UK will simply have to live with consequences of their decisions.

Re: Russian Armed Forces
I wonder what happened to the Generals who proposed the Ukraine plan, without taking into account how much Russian equipment relied on Ukrainian components, which has caused some serious problems in their re-equipment programmes. You don't really be some von Clausewitz to know that Russia imports b...

I have my reservations against split buy though. The A's lack refuelling in the same manner, I believe? Probes can be fitted to the A’s just like there is an option for parachute for Icey runways, it’s just no one has taken up the option for probes as either they have no AAR aircraft or they have t...

It's worth remembering that with less than 48 Rafale M's the French Navy regularly generates around 24 aircraft on the CdG, and threw 26 on it for their equivilent of Shader when it kicked off after the Paris Attacks. CdG has recently been fitted for 30 Rafale Ms in total; which is aimed to be tria...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
IMHO, they should have bought 13 Son of Type 23 ships and that's it. With about 9,25 billions GBP of total budget and 3 ship design cost, that should be possible to do for say 550-600 mil. per ship. And you can get a fine ship for that money. Maybe not the best, but good enough. If Type 23 was good ...

Russia will sell 2-4 Admiral Grigorevich class frigates to India. These are two last ships that were ordered for Russian Navy, but couldn't be finished without engines from Ukraine. Maybe two will be built in India too.

I wonder, if this proposed deal is so bad, why dosn't the UK leaves the EU right away? Or in August 2015 for instance? If the UK will live better out of the EU, why stay even a day longer? Hard Brexit FTW.

I agree a son of T23 in the £500m range is needed in place of the T31 but I can only see this happening if more funded become available due to politics I'm just an interested but ignorant civilian here, but if more money were to become available wouldn't it be better spent on better terms and condi...

If we take T31 hull as given Which one? Leander? Simply bolting all the bells and whistles onto something like Leander or Arrowhead 120/140 isn't going to make a 'Son of T23'. It would need to be based on an acoustically quiet hull with hybrid propulsion to begin with. Yep, Leander. I agree, but yo...

Maximising the VLS on both the T-45 and T-26 should be a priority to give the maximum flexibility and capability to these platforms. With, I believe, ExLS being able to be used on both these and also in the stand alone three cell launchers that should be installed on the T-31e, we have one launch s...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
My proposal: Build 3 more River B2 patrol ships for most peaceful roles (WI, SA)- about 300 mil. GBP? Buy about 150 NSMs for Type 45 and Type 26- about 150-200 mil. GBP Buy 100 ASROCs for Type 26- cost, maybe 250 mil. GBP? Buy 150 land attack cruise missiles for Type 26 and Type 45- about 300 mil. p...
